I recently picked up a 2022 Dodge Challenger R/T and I am absolutely loving the power so far. However, I know there is plenty of room for improvement to really unlock its potential. I am looking for some bolt-on performance accessories that will give me a bit more throttle response and maybe a better exhaust note without going too crazy since it is my daily driver.
I have been looking into things like a high-flow cold air intake and a catch can to keep the engine clean, but I am not sure what actually makes a noticeable difference. Are there any specific brands or suspension bits like strut tower braces that you guys swear by? What are the first three performance mods you would recommend for a new owner?
Jumping in here... I went through this last year with my 5.7. Honestly, I was sooo worried about safety and the warranty. I ended up picking the Banks Power PedalMonster Throttle Sensitivity Booster because it has a Reverse Safety feature that others just dont have. It really wakes up the car without feeling sketchy. Also, grab the J&L Oil Separator 3.0 Black Anodized for 5.7L Hemi... basically essential for long-term reliability. Good luck!
TL;DR: Pedal Commander PC31 for Dodge Challenger has way more settings than Roar Pedal Throttle Response Controller. Totally agree with the catch can call, it's definately essential for these Hemis.
I get wanting more sound and response without breaking the bank. There are a few ways to do it, but you gotta be cautious with a daily driver so you dont void any warranties. Here is what i recommend for a budget-friendly start:
So i got my R/T last year and basically just did these:
Honestly reduces ur oil blow-by and torsional flex... sooo satisfied!
tbh i saw this earlier and meant to jump in because i spent way too much time logging data on these exact mods. i totally agree with the point about the catch cans... its basically mandatory for any hemi owner who wants to keep their intake manifold clean. when i was comparing brands, i focused a lot on the internal baffling designs because some are way more efficient at trapping oil than others. i actually went through a few different setups before i was happy with the collection rates. i also noticed that while everyone loves the engine mods, a lot of people overlook how much brand choice matters for things like strut braces. some are just decorative while others actually handle the load. finding that balance is the fun part of owning an r/t... enjoy the ride man.
Building on the earlier suggestion, I'd actually be careful about jumping straight into the engine bay. Everyone focuses on pedal boosters and catch cans, but honestly, the biggest thing holding these cars back is the factory rubber. I would suggest looking at some performance tires from Michelin or maybe Continental before you spend money on an intake. > Are there any specific brands or suspension bits like strut tower braces that you guys swear by? For the suspension side, go with BMR Suspension or Petty's Garage. You really cant go wrong with any of their stuff. Just be careful with how much you stiffen it up... if this is your daily driver, some of those heavy duty bits might make the ride quality drop more than youd like. Honestly tho, just start with the tires. Its the most boring mod but it makes the biggest difference for performance.
