I’m loving my new Dodge Hornet, but I’m ready to squeeze out some extra power and personalize the look. I’ve been looking into cold air intakes and maybe some lowering springs to tighten up the handling. Has anyone tried any specific piggyback tunes or exhaust setups yet? What are the must-have accessories for the interior or exterior?

Sooo I actually tried the Mopar Performance Cold Air Intake on mine and honestly? It was kinda underwhelming for the price. Not as good as expected tbh. If you're looking for real handling gains tho, check out the Eibach PRO-KIT Performance Springs (Set of 4) vs the H&R Sport Springs.
I mean, the Eibachs are great cuz they only drop it about an inch—super practical for daily driving and saves your front lip from speed bumps. But the H&Rs go lower and feel way stiffer, which is cool until you hit a pothole... ask me how I know lol.
Pro tip: Check out the forums at DodgeHornetRacing.com for technical teardowns. There's also a great resource at the Dodge Garage official site for Mopar-backed parts. I'd definitely grab the JB4 Tuner for Dodge Hornet 2.0T instead of a basic RaceChip if you want actual data logging. Good luck!!

Just sharing my experience: I went through this last year and honesty, I was super paranoid about my warranty and long-term reliability. I basically compared the JB4 Tuner for Dodge Hornet against a custom dyno tune. While the dyno gives more raw power, I went with the JB4 cuz it's easier to remove for service visits, right? But be careful with the boost levels... I’ve seen guys push too hard and get limp mode. If you're looking for handling without ruining the ride, maybe look into the Eibach Pro-Kit Lowering Springs vs the H&R Sport Springs. The Eibachs felt way more daily-driver friendly in my opinion, whereas the H&Rs were lowkey too stiff for shitty roads. Safety-first tho, make sure your shop recalibrates the sensors after dropping it!
Ok so, I've been messing around with my Hornet for a few months now and honestly, I totally get the itch for more power. From what I've seen, you might want to consider checking out the gear from JB4 or RaceChip if you're looking into those piggyback tunes. They're super popular and basically the go-to for these turbocharged engines... but be careful with the boost levels tho!
I would suggest focusing on these areas first:
- Performance: Definitely look into a cold air intake from a brand like K&N or Mopar. It makes the turbo sounds way louder and feels a bit snappier, you know?
- Handling: Lowering springs from Eibach or H&R really tighten things up and literally fix that wheel gap issue.
- Interior: I just got some all-weather floor mats and a center console organizer from Amazon and they're highkey lifesavers for keeping it clean.
Make sure to check your warranty before going too crazy with the engine stuff tho!! gl!
Works great for me
> What are the must-have accessories for the interior or exterior? Ok so, I totally get why everyone is jumping straight into tunes and springs, but I actually disagree with starting there. I’m still pretty new to the Hornet myself, but being a DIY person, I think it’s better to start with the smaller stuff you can do in your own garage first... it lets you get a feel for the car without the stress of potentially messing with the warranty or the ride quality right away. I’ve been looking at things that are basically plug-and-play. Like, have you checked out the Dodge Hornet Splash Guards or even the Dodge Hornet Stainless Steel Pedal Covers? I did the pedals last weekend and it honestly makes the interior feel way more premium for a beginner project. Also, adding a Dodge Hornet Door Sill Guards kit is a super easy way to personalize the look without needing a professional shop. I’m just a bit nervous about the complex engine stuff since these cars are so tech-heavy... does anyone else feel like the DIY tuning might be a bit much to start with?
