I’m incredibly lucky to be taking delivery of a Ferrari SF90 XX Stradale soon, and I’m already losing sleep over how to protect that paint. Given how extreme the aero is on this car—especially with all those aggressive ducts, the fixed rear wing, and the carbon fiber detailing—I want a Paint Protection Film (PPF) that offers the best clarity and durability without yellowing over time. This isn't just a garage queen; I actually plan on taking it out for some spirited drives, so rock chip protection is a major priority.
I’ve been looking into top-tier options like XPEL Ultimate Plus and SunTek Reaction, but I’ve also heard some great things about STEK for its hydrophobic properties and high-gloss finish. Since the SF90 XX has such complex body lines and sharp edges, I’m worried about seams showing or the film lifting in those tricky areas. I’m definitely looking for a custom template or a bulk install rather than a standard pre-cut kit.
For those of you with experience on high-end exotics or specifically the SF90 platform, which brand do you think offers the best balance of 'invisible' protection and ease of maintenance? Also, would you recommend a ceramic coating on top of the film for that extra pop?
Sooo, I went through this last year with my Pista. Honestly, the aero on these new Ferraris is a total nightmare for installers, right? I was literally losing sleep just like you because I didn't want any visible edges on those crazy carbon ducts.
I ended up going with KAVACA Ceramic Coated Paint Protection Film instead of the usual suspects. I'm a pretty cautious guy and wanted something that wouldn't require me to scrub the film every time I hit a bug at 100mph. Since it comes pre-coated, the maintenance is actually super easy and it has stayed perfectly clear with zero yellowing.
My big lesson? I prioritized the *custom bulk install* over the brand name. I paid a bit more for the shop to take the trim off so they could tuck every single edge of the KAVACA Ceramic Coated PPF. It cost me a few extra grand, but seeing those complex SF90 lines look seamless is sooo worth it. Basically, just find the best installer in your state and let them use the film they're most comfortable stretching over those sharp XX edges, you know? Good luck, it's gonna look mental!!
Curious about one thing: what's the paint color? STEK DYNOshield is decent value since it basically has coating built-in.
* High gloss
* Saves maintenance costs
It really pops!
In my experience, you’re right to be cautious. With an SF90 XX, the install is honestly more important than the film itself. I’ve tried most of the big brands on my track cars, and here is how I see it:
1. XPEL Ultimate Plus 10 Mil - This is the industry standard for a reason. It’s thick and the durability is literally bulletproof, but sometimes it doesn't have that crazy high-gloss depth you might want for a Ferrari.
2. STEK DYNOshield - Honestly, this is what I'd go with. The hydrophobic top coat is built-in, so water just beads off, and it has a glass-like finish that makes the paint pop way more than XPEL.
3. SunTek Reaction - Basically a hybrid between PPF and ceramic coating. It’s good, but for those complex SF90 aero ducts, it can be a bit tricky to work with.
Since youre worried about lifting, you MUST find an installer who does a full custom bulk wrap. They’ll tuck every edge so it’s basically invisible, right? Also, definitely throw a layer of Gtechniq HALO Flexible Film Coating on top. It makes maintenance so much easier after a spirited drive. Good luck with the delivery, such a sick car!! 👍
Works great for me
