so i just got my first ever truck its a ford maverick and i honestly have no idea what im doing with the bed. it looks kinda tiny now that i actually have it in my driveway lol. i need to figure out how to fit my groceries and some basic camping stuff for a trip to the olympic peninsula next month but i dont want everything sliding all over the place or getting soaked if it rains.
my budget is maybe 400 or 500 dollars tops for now so i cant go too crazy. sorry if this is a super basic question but what are the best things to buy to actually make the most of that little space without spending a fortune?

I would suggest starting with these to keep your budget under control:
- The Rough Country Hard Tri-fold Bed Cover is sturdy, but be careful with the seals so it doesnt leak.
- The Tyger Auto T3 Soft Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover is cheaper, tho less secure. For organization, just drop a 2x6 board into the bed slots. Its way cheaper than the Ford Bed Extender and stops stuff from sliding.

Building on the earlier suggestion about the cargo bar, I have been really happy with my Dee Zee Heavy Duty Truck Bed Mat DZ87005. It stops things from sliding around way better than the bare metal. Since you're tight on cash, I'd honestly just grab a couple Rubbermaid Roughneck 18 Gallon Storage Totes for your gear. Works well and keeps stuff organized without costing a fortune!

Honestly, you might want to consider the UnderCover SwingCase Truck Bed Storage Box for one side. It uses that weird dead space over the wheel wells and keeps gear dry. I would suggest being careful with cheap nets tho, they tangle easy. Maybe get a Keeper 05059 Ratcheting Cargo Bar instead to wedge your grocery bags against the tailgate. Saves tons of headache.

Same here. Ive been analyzing the bed dimensions and payload specs for weeks but still havent found a secure, waterproof configuration. Gear reliability is a huge concern and im just stuck.
