I’m looking to add some extra storage to my Genesis GV70 for upcoming road trips, but I’m torn between the OEM bars and aftermarket options like Thule or Yakima. I want something that looks sleek and doesn't create too much wind noise at highway speeds. Does anyone have recommendations for a rack that fits perfectly without scratching the rails?

In my experience, you have to be really cautious with high-end SUVs like the GV70. Over the years, I've seen too many people scratch their finish with cheap mounts. For your situation, I would suggest the Yakima JetStream Crossbars paired with the Yakima SightLine Towers. They have a very secure, rubber-padded fit that protects the rails better than most. Honestly, I'd still recommend a professional install just to be safe, though it's DIY-able if you're careful!

Late to the party but honestly, for the best value without risking the paint, I'd suggest the Genesis GV70 OEM Roof Rack Cross Bars. I've seen aftermarket clamps slip and scuff teh rails, which is a total nightmare on a new car. The OEM bars are specifically designed for those exact mounting points. Tbh, if you're worried about cost, check online parts warehouses—they're often way cheaper than the local dealer's quote!

Hi there! Oh, I totally get the struggle of finding the right look for the GV70—it’s such a gorgeous car and you definitely don't want to ruin those sleek lines with a bulky rack! In my experience, I’ve tried a few setups over the years on different SUVs, and for your situation, I would suggest going with the Thule system.

I’m still pretty new to the Genesis world myself, but I’ve been using the Thule WingBar Edge 9595 on my GV70 for about six months now and honestly, I love it! It has this amazing low-profile look that almost makes it look like it came from the factory.

Here is why I think it’s the way to go:
- It’s super quiet! I seriously don't notice any whistling even when I'm hitting 75mph on the highway.
- The feet are rubber-lined, so I haven't seen a single scratch on my rails yet—just make sure you clean the rails before you put them on!
- If you need a cargo box too, I paired mine with the Thule Motion XT L Cargo Carrier and it fits like a glove.

I did look at the Yakima JetStream Black Crossbars, which are also fantastic, but I felt the Thule ones tucked in a bit tighter to the roof. One thing to watch out for... wait, getting sidetracked here... anyway, just make sure you get the specific Thule Fit Kit 186077 for the GV70 flush rails or it won't sit right! Do you think you'll be leaving them on year-round or just for trips? Good luck!
