Best dash cam setup for a GMC Acadia Denali?

Hey everyone! I recently picked up a 2024 GMC Acadia Denali, and I’m absolutely loving the ride so far. However, after seeing way too many close calls on my daily commute, I’ve decided it’s time to invest in a solid dash cam setup. Since the Denali trim has such a nice, tech-heavy interior, I’m really hesitant to just slap something bulky on the windshield or have wires hanging everywhere.

I’m looking for a setup that complements the luxury feel of the truck. Ideally, I want something that looks almost OEM—discreet and tucked away. I’ve been looking at 2-channel systems (front and rear) because I want full coverage, especially with the power liftgate in the back. I’m a bit concerned about how to route the wiring through the headliner and the liftgate grommets without messing with the rear-view camera mirror or any of the built-in sensors near the rearview mirror housing.

I’ve been eyeing brands like BlackVue or Vantrue, but I’m open to anything that offers 4K resolution and great night vision. Another big thing for me is parking mode; I’d love to have that extra peace of mind when I’m parked in public lots, but I’m worried about battery drain or if I should look into a dedicated battery pack setup. I’m not exactly a pro at car electronics, so I’m debating whether to try a DIY install with a hardwire kit to the fuse box or just pay a professional to handle it.

For those of you driving a recent Acadia Denali, what are you using? Did you run into any issues with the passenger-side fuse box or the side-curtain airbags during the install? I’d love to hear your recommendations on specific models and any tips on the cleanest way to wire everything up so it looks professional. What do you think is the absolute best dash cam setup for this specific vehicle?

Honestly, I totally get the hesitation. I tried a DIY install on my Denali and it was a mess—I actually tucked the wire wrong and rattled the side-curtain airbag cover. Not good! For that OEM look, I'd definitely suggest the BlackVue DR970X-2CH Plus 4K UHD Dash Cam 64GB. However, seriously, just pay a pro. Routing through those liftgate grommets is a nightmare and I almost snapped a clip. Also, definitely get the BlackVue B-130X Ultra Magic Battery Pack if you want parking mode; my car battery struggled without it.

Quick question - before I share my setup, have you checked if your Denali has the digital rearview mirror? I've been installing these for 15 years and that housing is a nightmare for clearance. Also, are you okay with a separate battery? I've seen too many people fry their car's main battery using just a hardwire kit on these tech-heavy GMCs. Let me know and I'll give you my safety-first recommendation!

Quick question - does your Acadia have the digital rearview mirror option? In my experience, that housing is a bit bulkier and can limit where you tuck a camera like the BlackVue DR970X-2CH Plus 4K UHD Dash Cam.

Before I dive into the technical side, you should know:

* **WARNING:** Avoid the A-pillar side-curtain airbags! If you route wires in front of them, they could turn into projectiles if the bags deploy. Always tuck behind the airbag housing.

Are you planning on using a high-end card like the Samsung PRO Endurance 256GB MicroSDXC for that 4K footage?

Respectfully, I'd consider another option before dropping a ton of cash on those high-end brands. I've been installing these for years, and honestly, the "luxury" brands like BlackVue are great, but you're paying a massive premium for the name. For a 2024 Denali, you can get that same OEM look without the $500+ price tag.

I actually suggest the VIOFO A229 Pro 2-Channel 4K Dash Cam with IMX678 Sensor instead. It uses the latest Sony Starvis 2 tech, which genuinely beats the more expensive competition in low-light clarity. To keep it clean, skip the bulky battery packs for now. If you're worried about the battery, just use the VIOFO HK4 Hardwire Kit with Adjustable Voltage Cut-Off and set it to 12.4V. It’ll protect your Acadia's battery perfectly. Anyway, back to the install—make sure you run the rear cable *under* the side airbags, not over them. It takes ten extra minutes but it's way safer. Hope this helps!
