Hey everyone! I just took delivery of a new GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate, and man, this truck is incredible. Given how much of an investment it is, I really want to get a high-quality dash cam installed as soon as possible for some peace of mind.

I’m specifically looking for something that won’t clutter up that premium interior. Since the Denali Ultimate has the Digital Rearview Mirror and all the sensors for Super Cruise, I’m a bit worried about mounting space and potential interference near the top of the windshield. I’m leaning towards a dual-channel system (front and rear) with 4K resolution so I can actually read license plates clearly if something happens. Also, a reliable parking mode is a must-have for me, so I’m planning on hardwiring it into the fuse box for 24/7 protection.

I’ve been eyeing the BlackVue DR970X and the Vantrue N4 Pro, but I’m curious if anyone here has successfully installed these—or something even better—in their Sierra. I want a clean, 'factory' look without wires hanging everywhere or blocking the tech sensors.

Does anyone have recommendations for a specific dash cam model that fits the Denali Ultimate’s unique windshield layout perfectly without causing any issues?

Ngl, with a Denali Ultimate you definitely want to be careful around that Super Cruise sensor array. If you want the most factory look possible, Fitcamx 4K Dash Cam for GMC Sierra is basically unbeatable since it replaces the plastic shroud behind your mirror. It looks like it came from the dealership. However, if you're more worried about technical specs and long-term reliability for parking mode, I'd suggest the Thinkware U3000 Dual Channel 4K Dash Cam. I've found it better than the BlackVue for a few reasons:

  • It has a built-in radar sensor for parking mode, so it consumes way less power while waiting for movement.
  • The heat dissipation is a bit better in my experience, which matters if the truck sits out in the sun.
  • The Sony Starvis 2 sensor is the current gold standard for reading plates at night. Just make sure when you're hardwiring that you use a multimeter to find a truly switched fuse that wont interfere with the trucks battery management system. Those Denali trims are sensitive to parasitic draw, so don't just tap into any random slot.

In my experience with these trucks over the years, the tech setup can be really finicky if you tap into the wrong power source. You definitely want to prioritize something that wont mess with the warranty or the battery drain protection. Just trying to be safe since these rigs are basically rolling computers now. Quick reply while I have a sec, but I had a couple of questions to help narrow it down:

  • Are you planning on doing the hardwire install yourself or taking it to a pro shop?
  • How long do you actually need the parking mode to run for... just a few hours while shopping or are we talking multiple days in a long-term lot? Knowing that helps because the power management gets tricky on these newer Denali trims. I've seen plenty of guys kill their batteries by overestimating what the truck can handle without a dedicated battery pack, and those get pricey fast.
