Hey everyone! I finally took delivery of my GMC Hummer EV Pickup, and man, this thing is an absolute beast on the pavement. I’m planning my first real off-road excursion to some technical rocky trails next month, and I want to make sure I’m fully prepared before I head out. Since this truck weighs nearly 9,000 lbs, I’m a bit nervous about recovery and protecting the investment.
I already have the Extreme Off-Road Package with the factory 35-inch tires and underbody cameras, but I feel like there’s room for improvement. I’ve been looking into heavy-duty winch kits that can actually handle the Hummer's weight and some better storage organizers for the massive frunk to keep my gear from rattling around. I'm also curious if anyone has found rock sliders or mud flaps that don't interfere with the air suspension or the CrabWalk functionality. I want to build a setup that balances rugged utility with all the high-tech features this truck offers.
For those of you who have already taken yours into the dirt, what specific off-road accessories or aftermarket brands would you consider 'must-haves' for the Hummer EV to handle tough terrain without stressing about damage?
I went through this last year! Like, I compared:
- Factor 55 UltraHook (Safe/Best)
- ARB TRED Pro Recovery Boards (Traction)
- Bubba Power Stretch Recovery Rope (Elasticity)
Ngl, safety's CRITICAL! gl!
9k lbs is huge! basically, safety needs 1.5x capacity. so:
1. Warn M15-S Heavyweight 15,000 lb Winch
2. GMC Hummer EV Frunk Organizer Tray
its literally amazing and handles loads perfectly... gl!
In my experience over the years, Option A (winch) beats B (straps). Pros: safety. Cons: complex. A's best. Honestly, 9,000lbs is scary... basically, consult a pro. Dont risk it!
