Hey everyone! I finally took delivery of my GMC Hummer EV Pickup last week, and I am still trying to wrap my head around the sheer scale of this beast. It’s an absolute blast to drive, and that CrabWalk feature has already saved me in a tight parking lot. However, now that the initial 'honeymoon phase' excitement has settled slightly, I’m looking at the blank canvas of the truck and realizing I need to gear it up properly.
I’ve been browsing the official GMC accessories catalog and a few aftermarket sites, but it’s honestly a bit overwhelming. Since this is such a unique platform, I don’t want to waste money on generic gear that doesn't fit the 'super-truck' vibe. I’m particularly curious about the 'Frunk.' It’s massive, but right now, my groceries and gear just slide around like they’re in a bowling alley. Has anyone found a specific cargo organizer or net system that fits those dimensions perfectly?
Also, I’m looking for advice on the MultiPro Tailgate. I saw there’s an integrated Kicker audio system you can add, which sounds amazing for camping trips, but is the sound quality actually worth the price tag? Another concern of mine is protection. This thing is wide, and I’m terrified of rock chips or interior scuffs. Are the factory all-weather floor liners the way to go, or is there a third-party brand that offers better coverage for the back seats?
I’m planning to do a mix of daily driving and some light weekend overlanding, so I want to be practical but also take advantage of the tech. My budget for this first round of upgrades is around $1,500 to $2,000.
For those of you who have had yours for a while, what are the absolute 'must-have' accessories you’d recommend for a new owner to get first?
Quick question - congrats on the beast! Before I give the full technical breakdown, I need to know: * Do you want a permanent frunk organizer or a removable mesh system?
* How rough are the trails you're hitting? Tbh, the GMC MultiPro Tailgate Audio System by Kicker is pricey ($800+), so I wanna see if we should prioritize protection gear like WeatherTech FloorLiner HP mats (around $200) first. Lmk!
Here's what I recommend: if ur worried about safety and keeping that beast in one piece, you gotta prioritize protection first. Honestly, rock chips on a truck this wide are basically inevitable if u dont have decent guards. I went with the GMC Hummer EV Splash Guards right away because they're engineered to fit the wider stance perfectly. For the frunk, dont just get a net. If ur hauling heavy stuff, a net can snap or sag. I'm really happy with the GMC Hummer EV Front Trunk Cargo Organizer—it's sturdy enough to keep gear from shifting and potentially damaging the hood latch mechanism or the tub. Safety-wise, having everything bolted down is just better, right? Regarding the floors, the factory ones are okay, but I've found that WeatherTech FloorLiner DigitalFit offers way better coverage behind the pedals where salt and mud actually hide. It's a more conservative choice but way more reliable for the long haul. As for the GMC MultiPro Tailgate Audio System by Kicker, honestly? It's a lot of money for something exposed to the elements. Since ur budget is $2k, I'd skip the tunes for now and put that cash into a professional XPEL Ultimate Plus Paint Protection Film install for the front clip. It's a much smarter investment for ur resale value and peace of mind... trust me, you'll be happy you did it when you hear that first rock ping off the bumper! gl!
sooo, i’ve had my hummer for about 8 months now and honestly... it’s been a bit of a learning curve. unfortunately, i found that a lot of the official gmc gear is just not as good as expected for the price. i remember taking it out for the first time and feeling so paranoid about every little pebble. here is what i recommend based on my own trial and error: 1. **forget the kicker audio.** seriously, the sound quality is pretty weak for an $800 upgrade. i mean, i had issues with the buttons sticking after just one muddy weekend camping. it’s way more practical to just grab a rugged portable speaker and save your cash.
2. **frunk storage.** i tried a generic bin and it realy just slid around. i finally found a cargo net system from an aftermarket site that hooks into the factory points. it keeps groceries from sliding way better than those flimsy folding organizers.
3. **go 3rd party for liners.** the factory mats are okay, but they dont cover the sills well. i went with weathertech and the coverage is way better, especially for the back seats. the fit is actually tighter too.
4. **ppf is a MUST.** if youre worried about rock chips, spend about $1500 of your budget on paint protection film (ppf) for the front end. this truck is basically a giant wall. definately get the rocker panels done too cuz the tires kick up a lot of debris. basically, focus on protection first!! anyway, hope that helps. gl!
