Hey everyone! I just picked up a brand new Honda CR-V Hybrid, and I’m absolutely loving the smooth ride and fuel efficiency so far. However, I’m planning a few road trips this summer and realized I definitely need some extra storage space for our gear. I’m a bit torn on which roof rack system to go with for this specific model.
I’ve been looking at the official Honda OEM crossbars, but I’ve heard mixed reviews regarding their weight capacity and how much height they add. Since it’s a hybrid, I’m also pretty concerned about wind noise and how a rack might impact my MPG—I'd hate to ruin that great gas mileage! I primarily need something sturdy enough to haul two mountain bikes or a large cargo box for camping.
Has anyone here installed a rack on the 2023 or 2024 Hybrid? I’m trying to decide if it’s worth the extra investment for high-end aerodynamic bars like Thule or Yakima, or if the factory ones are sufficient. My budget is around $500-$700. If you’ve found a setup that stays quiet at highway speeds and doesn't tank the fuel economy, could you please share your experience and which specific parts you used?
> I’m trying to decide if it’s worth the extra investment for high-end aerodynamic bars like Thule or Yakima, or if the factory ones are sufficient. Honestly, I'm so happy with the Thule WingBar Evo 135 setup on my 2024 Hybrid. It's basically silent at highway speeds compared to the factory ones, and my MPG barely dropped, maybe 1-2 tops. It definately fits your $600 budget and is worth the extra cash!! peace
Respectfully, Id consider another option. Honestly, Thule WingBar Evo 135 handles weight better than Honda OEM Crossbars, and Yakima JetStream Bar 50 inch offers better dynamic load safety. Dont risk it!
Respectfully, I’d consider another option. I went with the basic ones from the dealer instead of those pricey brands, and honestly? Theyve been great. * MPG only dropped by like 1 or 2...
* Super quiet unless its really windy
* Held my heavy bikes no problem Im super satisfied since I saved a few hundred bucks for gas money instead! Just make sure you align them right... gl!
