Which roof racks work best for a Honda Pilot TrailSport?

Hey everyone! I just recently joined the Honda family with a new Pilot TrailSport, and I’m absolutely loving the rugged look and those beefy factory roof rails. However, I’ve run into a bit of a dilemma trying to find the perfect roof rack setup for our upcoming summer camping trips.

I’ve been looking at the official Honda OEM crossbars, but I’ve heard some mixed reviews regarding their actual weight capacity and how much wind noise they generate once you hit highway speeds. Since the TrailSport is built for more adventure, I’m leaning toward something a bit more robust like a Thule WingBar Evo setup or maybe a Yakima platform. My main concerns are twofold: first, I want to make sure whatever I install doesn't interfere with the panoramic sunroof operation, and second, I’m eventually planning on mounting a lightweight rooftop tent, so I need something with a solid dynamic load rating.

Has anyone here with a newer TrailSport installed an aftermarket rack yet? I’m specifically curious about the clearance between the bars and the roof and if you’ve noticed a significant hit to your MPG. For those of you who have tested different setups, which specific brands or models have you found provide the best balance of durability and low wind noise for the TrailSport's unique rail design?

TL;DR from this thread: the consensus is that cheaping out leads to massive wind noise and sunroof anxiety lol. Honestly, I’ve been doing this for years, and safety is ALWAYS #1 when ur talking about rooftop tents. You gotta respect those load ratings or things get sketchy fast!

To solve the dilemma, I highkey recommend the Thule WingBar Evo 135 (53") with the Thule Raised Rail Edge Foot Pack. It offers fantastic clearance for that panoramic roof and stays pretty quiet at highway speeds. If ur really worried about the tent weight, the Yakima LockNLoad Platform K (55" x 49") is literally a tank and super secure for heavy-duty stuff. MPG will take a small hit (maybe 1-2 mpg), but that’s basically the price of looking rugged, right?? Just make sure everything is torqued down tight before u hit the trails... safety first!! peace 👍

Curious about one thing: what's the weight of the tent ur looking at? I'm still learning the technical side of the TrailSport, but I tried a cheaper budget setup on mine to save money. Honestly, the wind noise was super loud and I lowkey worried about the sunroof clearance... it felt way too close. Knowing your tent weight and budget would help me check those load specs for you!!

My buddy told me the exact same thing last week. Guess he was right lol.
