Finally got my FL5 in championship white after hunting for months and man it drives like a dream but honestly it looks a little tame parked next to my buddies old FK8. I'm in the LA area so car culture is everywhere and I dont want to look like every other stock CTR on the road but I only got about 2500 bucks to spend right now before my wife kills me lol. I've been staring at the catalog for days and I'm basically stuck between three different vibes.
First choice is the OEM carbon fiber wing because it just looks so high quality and fits the car perfectly but it's basically my whole budget just for one piece of carbon. Then I'm looking at doing a full aero kit from someone like APR or even just a decent front lip and some side extensions which would make it look much lower and meaner but I'm worried about scraping on every driveway in the city since some of these streets are literal trash. My third thought was just keeping it simple with the window visors, maybe some yellow fog light overlays and the blacked out badges to give it that stormtrooper look which is way cheaper and leaves me money for some better tires later this year. I really want that aggressive stance but I'm scared the aftermarket lips will look cheap compared to the factory paint job.
Do you guys think the carbon wing makes enough of a visual impact to justify the price or should I go with a full lip kit to change the actual silhouette of the car more?...
I've seen so many guys ruin their front ends on steep driveways in LA. you might want to be careful with the APR Performance Front Air Dam FL5 because its gonna scrape everywhere. I would suggest going for the Honda Genuine Carbon Fiber Wing FL5 instead. The lip kit changes the silhouette more but the wing adds way more class without the constant anxiety of trash LA streets, plus the quality is better tho.
tbh i think youre right to be worried about those lip kits. unfortunately most of the aftermarket stuff fits like garbage anyway. i had issues with a generic kit on my last car and it was a mess. @Reply #1 - good point! scraping is a nightmare in LA... honestly if you go too low you wont even be able to enjoy the drive. If you want that aggressive stance without the headache, skip the aero for now. honestly, the stock wheels sit way too far inside the fenders. grab some H&R Trak+ Wheel Spacers 20mm 5x120 to flush them out. it changes the look more than youd think. also, those cheap vinyl overlays for fogs always peel after a summer in the sun. if you want the stormtrooper look just get the Honda Genuine Gloss Black Emblem Set FL5 and some Mugen Ventilated Door Visors Civic Type R FL5. it looks way more premium than the budget knockoffs and wont fall off in six months.
Any updates on this?
saw this yesterday and ngl I stayed pretty conservative with my build because I didnt want to void any warranties or mess with the sensors. Im really satisfied with just keeping things clean and simple tho... works well for a daily and no complaints so far. are you planning to track the car or is this purely for the street vibes? i'd be terrified of scraping that paint.
