So I finally pulled the trigger and got a 2024 Civic Type R and honestly Im terrified of breaking it lol. Ive never really been a car guy before this but I loved how it looked so I saved up forever. Im based in Ohio and mostly just use it to get to work and back but I keep seeing people online talking about mods and upgrades and Im totally lost. Like what even is a cold air intake? Does it actually do anything or is it just for noise?

Sorry if these are really basic questions but I have no idea where to start and the forums are kinda intimidating with all the technical talk. I have about 3000 dollars saved up to spend on it over the next few months but I dont want to void my warranty if thats a thing? I heard someone mention an exhaust makes it sound better but will it be too loud for my neighbors? I dont want to be that guy on the block.

Im just looking for stuff that makes it feel a bit more personal or maybe slightly faster without me having to become a full-on mechanic overnight. What are the best first things to buy for someone who really doesnt know what they are doing?

Like someone mentioned, you dont want to just buy noise! Since youre in Ohio and worried about neighbors, lets look at some exhausts that wont get you evicted lol. I love these options because they sound way better than the vacuum cleaner noise from the factory.

To add to the point above: make sure to prioritize reliability. I would suggest these safe modifications to avoid warranty issues:

Most intakes are just noise makers, unfortunately. I had issues with generic systems that actually increased my intake air temperatures by 15 degrees. You need something with proper thermal shielding and flow data.
