ugh im so over these all weather mats the dealer threw in with my 2024 Palisade. honestly they are total garbage and i feel like i got scammed. they dont even stay in place they just slide all over the passenger side every time someone gets in and now theres salt stains all over the actual carpet which is exactly what i was trying to avoid!! i live in vermont so we get literal tons of slush and mud and these flat pieces of rubber arent doing anything to catch it. my kids dropped a giant chocolate milkshake yesterday and it just rolled right off the side of the mat onto the floor... its a mess. i need something with those deep walls that actually fits the floor well and locks into those little floor clips properly. looked at weathertech but some people say they are too stiff and get slippery when they are wet? idk. i have about $250 to spend but i want something that actually stays put and covers the whole floor even the middle row especially since the kids are back there. what are you guys using that actually works? im tired of cleaning my carpets every single weekend just because the mats fail.
> they dont even stay in place they just slide all over the passenger side every time someone gets in and now theres salt stains all over the actual carpet Ugh i totally feel your pain. I had the same nightmare with my last ride... basically the exact same thing happened with a huge coffee instead of a milkshake. Total disaster. I learned the hard way that if the mats dont have those high sidewalls, they are basically useless for real winter weather. You might want to consider being really careful about the material tho. You mentioned the slipperiness and honestly, some of the harder plastic ones I tried before my current setup were like ice skates once they got wet. My kids were literally sliding around back there. Make sure to look for something that feels more like thick rubber than hard plastic if you want that grip. I eventually found a set that locks into the factory clips perfectly and it was a total game changer. Just watch out for the ones that claim to be universal because they never fit right.
@Reply #2 - good point! honestly the material is everything when you are dealing with freezing temps. i learned the hard way with my first suv... i bought some generic mats thinking i was saving money but they ended up curling at the edges after a month. it actually got caught under my brake pedal once which was terrifying. now i wont even look at a mat if it doesnt have heavy duty grommets that click into the factory floor posts. if it slides even an inch its a massive safety risk imo. those stiff plastic ones can also get really slick if you have icy boots. you want something that feels more like rubber so your heel doesnt slip while you are driving. spending a bit more upfront is better than dealing with a stuck pedal or ruined carpets. just make sure whatever you get has a deep enough lip to hold that melted snow or itll just dump out when you take the mat out to clean it.
Just saw this and man, VT slush is the absolute worst. Not 100% sure, but I think the trick is finding mats made of TPE instead of that hard plastic. IIRC it stays flexible in the cold and isnt as slippery when wet. Laser-scanned ones usually have those high walls you need for the milkshake disasters, though I havent tried them in a Palisade specifically.
