What performance accessories are actually worth it to improve the drive on my Q50 Black Opal Edition? I really want it to feel more responsive since I use it as my daily driver here in North Jersey and want a bit more kick when I hit the parkway on weekends. I did some digging and saw everyone raves about the AMS Red Alpha intakes but then I read on a different thread that they dont really change the feel unless you get a full tune which Im not ready for yet. I also looked at some sway bars but Im worried itll make the ride too stiff for my wife. If I have about 3k to spend right now should I go for the lower downpipes or maybe just a cat-back system or is there something else Im missing...

Check out the Z1 Motorsports Akebono Performance Brake Upgrade Kit vs the Z1 Motorsports VR30 High Capacity Transmission Cooler Kit. Brakes give amazing stopping power for those parkway runs, while the cooler is vital for reliability! Neither will ruin the ride for her at all!

Thinking about your situation, I would suggest focusing on longevity and safety before chasing high horsepower numbers. You might want to consider these specific items to ensure the car stays reliable:

Jumping in here because I went through this exact struggle with my own build a few years back. Tbh I spent way too much on parts that looked cool but made the car a nightmare to drive every day. You really have to be careful with that budget so you dont ruin the refined feel of your Black Opal.

  • I would suggest looking at the Cusco Type OS Front Strut Tower Bar. I put one on mine and it really helped the front end feel way more planted in corners without making the ride stiff at all... your wife wont even notice a difference in comfort.
  • Be cautious with lower downpipes. While AMS Performance Red Alpha Lower Downpipes are amazing for flow, they can sometimes trigger a CEL or add some unwanted rasp if you dont have a full cat-back to balance it out.
  • For that kick you mentioned, check out the Burger Motorsports BMS Pedal Tuner. It basically changes the throttle mapping so the car reacts way faster when you tap the gas. It makes the car feel a lot lighter when you're merging onto the parkway.

honestly since youre in North Jersey and hitting the parkway, heat is your biggest enemy. I would suggest getting a bigger heat exchanger before anything else. The VR30 motor gets heat soaked super fast and you lose power after like two pulls. Check out the AMS Performance Red Alpha Heat Exchanger. It wont make the ride stiff but keeps the car feeling snappy even in summer. Also, if you want that extra kick without a full tune, you might want to consider the Burger Motorsports JB4 Tuner for Infiniti Q50. It is basically a piggyback that gives you more boost. Just be careful with lower downpipes... they can cause a check engine light which is a huge pain for a daily. Stick to a cat-back like the Infiniti Sport Exhaust Kit with Mufflers if you want sound without the drone thatll annoy your wife. Tbh keeping the wife happy is half the battle with these cars.
