What are the best performance mods for the R-75 if I need to get it ready for a track event in less than three weeks? I'm honestly torn between just going for the VelocityAP stage 2 kit with the pulley and tune or just sticking to a full Eventuri intake and maybe a Quicksilver exhaust setup to help it breathe better. I've got about 4500 bucks to spend right now and I'm really feeling the pressure because the local shop needs a week lead time for parts.
The R-75 is already a beast but I feel like it's holding back a bit on the top end when I'm pushing it on the highway and I want it to feel more alive. I'm leaning toward the tune but I'm super paranoid about the warranty since the car is basically brand new and the dealer here in SoCal is pretty strict about that stuff. On the other hand the intake and exhaust might not give me the same raw power kick but they look and sound incredible. Is the pulley swap really worth the extra heat issues in the California sun or should I just stick to the software? I need to make a move by Friday so I can get everything installed before the Laguna Seca day. Which way would you guys go for the best bang for buck without blowing the engine?
To add to the point above: honestly you gotta think about stopping! Laguna Seca is brutal on heavy cars and stock fluid will boil.
Just saw this. Honestly, over the years I have learned that cooling is way more important than raw numbers when you are dealing with the SoCal sun. I once did a pulley swap on a similar build and the heat soak at the track was unbearable... the car felt like a total dog by the third lap because it kept pulling timing. If you are worried about the warranty and the heat, I would skip the pulley and grab the VelocityAP Jaguar F-Type V8 Secondary Cooling Heat Exchanger instead. It helps the car stay consistent during hard sessions and wont flag your ECU. To make it feel more alive without the engine risk, I would put the leftover cash into a set of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 305/30ZR20 tires. Stock rubber gets way too greasy at Laguna once it gets hot. Better to spend on grip and cooling than a tune that might get your engine flagged or blown.
