What are the absolute must-have interior accessories for a Jeep Grand Cherokee L that you guys actually use every day? I just picked up a 2024 Summit Reserve in black last week for the family and I'm honestly paranoid about the kids ruining the leather already. We live in the Pacific Northwest so it is basically always raining or muddy and I need to protect the floors and especially the back of the front seats because my 6-year-old keeps kicking them.
I did some digging online and everyone keeps saying WeatherTech mats are the gold standard for SUVs but then I saw a few threads saying the Mopar OEM all-weather mats actually fit the 3-row layout better and dont slide around as much near the second row captain chairs. Its confusing because the Mopar ones look a bit thinner in the photos I saw on a parts site?
I have about $500 set aside for this right now since we just spent a ton on the car and I want to get this stuff ordered before our camping trip next month. A few things I am looking at:
Is the screen protector actually worth it or does it just make the glare worse on sunny days? Just looking for stuff that actually fits the 2024 L model specifically...
WeatherTech wasnt as good as expected because they curl.
Re: "WeatherTech wasnt as good as expected because they..." - yeah, I have to agree with everyone saying they're a disappointment lately. The curling is real and looks so cheap after a few months. Basically, the consensus here is go with the Mopar liners for the best fit or TuxMats if you really want that high sidewall coverage. Unfortunately, most seat protectors are just as bad and look like garbage after a week. I had issues with them sagging and looking tacky, but Lusso Gear Heavy Duty Kick Mats are actually decent and stay tight against the seat. Since you're being smart with your budget, definitely grab the Vancroiser Center Console Tray Organizer too. It turns that deep bin into something actually usable for like 15 bucks. Dont waste your cash on the screen protector tho... the glare is a total nightmare on those glossy Jeep screens. Youll save a lot of that $500 budget sticking to these practical basics!
> the Mopar OEM all-weather mats actually fit the 3-row layout better and dont slide around as much near the second row captain chairs. Yeah, I totally agree with you on the Mopar liners. I have looked at the specs for the floor pan measurements on the L model and those OEM ones really do have the tightest tolerances around the seat tracks. One thing to be careful about tho is the rear cargo area if you have power-folding seats. Make sure to check if the mat is the split version or the solid one because a solid piece basically blocks your ability to use the third row without pulling the whole thing out. I would suggest looking at the hinge points on any cargo protectors to make sure they match your seat config exactly or you might end up with some nasty bunching... been there, done that.
