What are the must-have off-road accessories for a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon?

Finally got my Rubicon! Looked at winches and traction boards but some say stock lockers are plenty. I'm hitting SoCal deserts soon and need to stay safe.

  • $2k budget
  • Desert weekend trips
  • Solo or small group runs

What are the actual must-haves for me?

Since youre hitting the desert, a winch is a decent option for solo runs. I suggest the Warn VR EVO 10-S Winch with Synthetic Rope because it works well for the price. Also, dont skip on airing down. The ARB Twin Air Compressor 12V High Performance CKMTA12 is a solid way to get back to street pressure. Toss in some MAXTRAX MKII Recovery Boards and youve got a reliable setup for under 2k. If you need tips, just ask.

Had a minute to check back in. If you're hitting the SoCal desert, you really gotta think about comms. Most groups out here have moved away from CB to GMRS. I went with the Midland MXT275 MicroMobile 15W GMRS Two-Way Radio and it works well for keeping in touch when you're miles from service. Since you've got the Rubicon lockers, you'll probably try some harder lines, so a good shackle mount is smart. I've been very satisfied with the Factor 55 ProLink Shackle Mount Winch Hook because it turns your winch into a closed loop system, which is way safer than just using a hook. Also, tire pressure is everything in the sand. I use the Staun II Tire Deflators Heavy Duty 6-30 PSI to drop down to 15 psi fast. No complaints so far, they're super consistent. Stay safe out there.
