I've been looking at a CPO Kia Sportage vs a Seltos lately and I'm totally stuck. I need something by next month for my new job commute near Cleveland and my budget is firm at $24,000. I'm leaning toward the Sportage for the extra room because I have a huge dog crate that needs to fit in the back but the Seltos is tempting for the better gas mileage.

  • Under 24k out the door
  • Must be CPO for that 10-year warranty
  • Enough cargo space for a large dog crate
  • Ideally 2021 or newer

Does anyone know where the best place is to find actual certified inventory? The local dealer sites around here are basically empty and I'm not sure if I should trust the certified tags on those big 3rd party sites...

Honestly, just head straight to the official Kia CPO site and use their national inventory search tool. I found my Kia Sportage 2021 LX AWD that way after getting frustrated with the big third-party sites showing me cars that were already sold. It worked like a charm and I felt way better knowing it was actually verified through their corporate system. I went through the same debate last year. I ended up with the Sportage because of my huge retriever, and man, I am glad I did. The Seltos is cute and the MPG is tempting, but that extra cargo width makes such a massive difference for crates.

  • Kia Sportage 2021 LX AWD: The interior feels way more substantial. It handles the slushy Cleveland-style roads with zero drama. I am very satisfied with how quiet it is on the highway too.
  • Kia Seltos 2021 EX AWD: It is a bit more nimble and great for parking, but the trunk floor is a little awkward for larger items. I have been driving mine for over a year now with no complaints... literally none. For a 24k budget, you might have to look at 2021 or 2022 models, but that 10-year warranty is basically the best safety net you can get. If you prioritize the dog crate like I did, the Sportage is 100 percent the way to go.
