Hey everyone! I’ve recently started towing a larger caravan with my Land Rover Discovery, and the stock mirrors just aren't giving me the visibility I need for lane changes. I’m looking for a solid set of extendable towing mirrors that won't vibrate excessively at highway speeds or damage the door seals. I've looked at some clip-on options, but I'm worried about them scratching the paint or slipping off. Does anyone have experience with specific brands that fit the Discovery's mirror housing perfectly? I'm hoping for something easy to install but sturdy enough for long trips. What are the best-fitting extendable mirrors you’ve used for this specific vehicle?

Seconding the recommendation above! Honestly, I’ve had such a nightmare with cheap clip-ons in the past—I actually had a budget pair fly off on the M1 and leave a nasty scratch on my door, which was heartbreaking. Unfortunately, the Disco's mirror shape is surprisingly tricky for a lot of generic brands to grip properly.

While the Milencos mentioned earlier are the standard go-to, I’ve also spent a lot of time testing the Clearview Next Gen Towing Mirrors for Land Rover Discovery 3/4. If you're doing long-haul trips and want a more permanent, professional feel, these are incredible. They actually replace the entire housing so you don't have to worry about vibrations or door seal damage at all. That said, they are a bit of an investment compared to temporary ones.

Another option I tried was the Repco Clip-On Towing Mirror with Ratchet Straps, but honestly, they were a bit of a letdown—the vibration was so bad at 60mph that I couldn't even tell if the car behind me was a sedan or a truck!

Anyway, back to your question—if you want something that won't budge, stick with the premium stuff. Better to spend a bit more now than deal with a broken mirror later! Hope this helps!

Just sharing my experience: I went through this last year and was really worried about the budget. Tbh, I didn't want to drop massive cash after buying the caravan! I ended up trying the Repco Clip-On Towing Mirror set.

1. It's a decent option if you're cost-conscious.
2. I added some thin rubber padding to the clips to protect the paint.

Honestly, it works okay, though there is some slight vibration at 100km/h. Worth a look! 🚐

Well, I've been there and tried just about every budget option on the market over the years. Before you buy anything, here's a quick warning: steer clear of those generic suction or basic strap-on mirrors. In my experience, they’re a recipe for disaster—they vibrate like crazy at 100km/h and the straps can actually chafe your paintwork if any grit gets trapped underneath. Honestly, it's not worth the risk to your Discovery's finish!

For your situation, I would suggest the Milenco Grand Aero 4 Towing Mirrors. I've used these for years and they're rock solid. They use a clever clamping system that grips the edge of your existing mirror housing without touching the paint or messing with the door seals. They’re a bit pricier, but the stability and wide field of view are absolutely worth the investment for long-haul peace of mind. Hope this helps!
