Hey everyone! I’m planning a long road trip in my Lexus NX 450h+ next month and I’m a bit nervous about charging options at the Airbnbs we've booked. The factory cable is a bit bulky to pack every day, so I’m looking for a reliable, portable Level 2 cable that I can just keep in the trunk sub-floor. I’m specifically looking for something with a NEMA 14-50 plug but that also includes a 110v adapter for emergencies. Has anyone found a specific brand that fits perfectly in the Lexus storage compartment without rattling? Also, does it play nice with the Lexus app's charging schedule? Let me know what you're using!

Sooo I was in the exact same boat with my NX! I picked up the Lectron J1772 NEMA 14-50 40 Amp Level 2 EV Charger and it’s been a lifesaver. It fits perfectly in that sub-floor spot without any annoying rattling, tho I usually wrap it in a small towel just in case. It comes with a 110v adapter for emergencies too! Honestly, it works flawlessly with the Lexus app scheduling, so no worries there. Definitely worth it for the peace of mind on road trips!

Quick question - before I give full advice, do you know if the Airbnbs you've booked actually have the NEMA 14-50 outlets installed? I'm honestly super excited for your trip, but finding those 240v plugs at rentals can be a bit tricky! Anyway, if you're looking for a solid alternative to the Lectron, definitely check out what **Grizzl-E** offers. Their stuff is AMAZING and basically bulletproof! Just make sure whatever brand you pick supports 12 amps on 110v so you don't trip any breakers haha. Does the app integration matter more than the cable length for you??

Quick question - before I dive into specific recs, can you clarify if you've already checked the outlets at those Airbnbs? In my experience, even when they say they've got charging, it's sometimes just a standard wall plug and not a NEMA 14-50. Honestly, I've tried many over the years and safety is HUGE, so I gotta ask if you're looking for a UL-listed cable specifically?? I want to make sure I suggest something that wont fry your NX's electronics lol.

Seconding the recommendation above! Honestly, I've tried many over the years and the Lectron J1772 NEMA 14-50 40 Amp Level 2 EV Charger is great, but since you're looking for a budget-friendly option that's a bit more versatile for travel, I gotta mention the Schumacher SC1455 Level 1/Level 2 Portable EV Charger.

In my experience, this one is basically the best value because it already includes the 110v adapter and it's super compact for that sub-floor storage. It usually runs around $180-$200, which is WAY cheaper than the factory Lexus cable if you ever had to replace it. Plus, it plays totally nice with the Lexus app's scheduling... I've never had a sync issue with my NX. Just a quick tip though: some of these cheaper cables can rattle, so I actually keep mine in a padded tool bag I found at a hardware store. It keeps everything silent back there! Definitely check if your Airbnbs have those 14-50 outlets though, cuz they are HUGE compared to a regular plug. gl!
