I just picked up my RZ 450e and want to keep that spindle body looking pristine! I’m worried about highway rock chips on the large front fascia. Has anyone tried Xpel or SunTek on their Lexus EV? Looking for a installer in the tri-state area—what’s a fair price for a full front clip?

Story time: I went through this last year with my LC 500. Honestly, after seeing the "sandblasted" look on my old car, I got super paranoid about safety and long-term durability. So basically, I skipped the cheaper shops and went to a pro for STEK DYNOshield Paint Protection Film. It’s been amazing for highway debris!!

- Safety-wise, it’s thick enough to stop legit gravel.
- Healing is crazy—swirls literally vanish in the sun.
- Expect to pay like $2,200-$2,800 in the tri-state for a full front clip tho. It's steep but worth it for the peace of mind ngl!

congrats on the RZ! honestly, i'm super cautious about rock chips too cuz that front end is basically a magnet for them. for your situation, i'd probably suggest going with XPEL Ultimate Plus Paint Protection Film. i've got it on my Lexus and it's saved me from a few nasty highway strikes already.

* **XPEL Ultimate Plus**: basically the industry standard for durability.
* **SunTek Reaction**: another solid choice if you want that built-in ceramic coating feel.

price-wise in the tri-state, you're looking at maybe $1,800 to $2,500 for a full front clip... it depends on the shop tho. definitely get a pro to do it cuz it's tricky stuff! gl!

+1 to what was said earlier. XPEL and SunTek are basically the gold standard for a reason, but honestly, you gotta be reallyyy careful with the pricing in the tri-state area cuz it varies so much. I'm a bit more of a cautious owner myself, so I'd say definitely don't just go for the cheapest quote you find! For a full front clip on an EV like the RZ, are you looking to just do the bumper and hood, or do you want the fenders and mirrors included too?

I think you're probably looking at anywhere from $1,500 to $2,200 depending on the shop's reputation. It's a lot of money, I know!! But like, with that huge spindle body, one bad rock chip will literally haunt you lol. Have you checked if any local installers offer a warranty that covers film yellowing? Just wanna make sure you're protected long-term before you drop the cash. Anyway, congrats on the new ride, it's a fantastic choice! 👍

Congrats on the RZ! That spindle front is definitely a lot of surface area to worry about. Before you commit to a shop, are you considering doing some of the work yourself to save on labor, or are you strictly looking for a pro install? If you are brave enough to go the DIY route with a pre-cut kit, I have had really good luck with these:

  • 3M Scotchgard Paint Protection Film Pro Series - super durable and honestly a solid choice for kits because it is pretty forgiving during application.
  • Avery Dennison Supreme Protective Film XI - this one has awesome self-healing tech and stays really clear over time. Doing a full front clip yourself can save you like a grand or more, but that Lexus bumper has some tricky curves so it is a project. If you go pro in the tri-state area, expect $1,800 to $2,500 for a quality job. Just make sure whoever you pick uses a plotter for the cuts so they arent taking a blade near your new paint. Let me know if you want some tips on the install process if you decide to try it yourself!

To add to the point above: honestly, i have been pretty disappointed with how some of the mainstream films are holding up lately. Ive seen way too many RZs with yellowing or that nasty orange peel texture after just a year. If you want something that actually stays invisible, LLumar Valor Paint Protection Film is a much better bet for long-term clarity in my experience. It combines the self-healing tech with a ceramic top layer that actually works, unlike some of the older hybrid films i have tried. Unfortunately, tri-state pricing is a total nightmare right now. For a full front clip on an RZ, you are probably looking at $2,500 to $3,200 if you want it done right. Valor is usually around 8 mils thick which is plenty for that front end. Anything cheaper and they are probably skipping the edge wrapping or using lower-grade material like Solar Gard Clearshield Pro ST. Stick with a shop that specializes in luxury EVs tho, since the sensor calibration on that front spindle can be finicky if they dont know what they are doing... definitely dont want them blocking the radar.

Curious about one thing: are you looking for a high-gloss finish to match that sleek RZ paint, or have you considered going with a matte look? It totally changes the vibe! XPEL was mentioned, but since you're tech-focused, definitely look into SunTek Reaction Paint Protection Film. It's basically a 2-in-1 cuz it integrates a hydrophobic ceramic coating into the film itself. Super slick tech! I'm honestly a huge fan of how it sheds water compared to standard films. Are you planning to do just the front or the full hood too tho?
