So I finally got my 2024 RX Hybrid last week and I am honestly already panicking because I chose the Macadamia interior which looked great in the showroom but now that I actually have my two kids and our golden retriever in there it is a total nightmare. I feel like I am constantly yelling at everyone to not touch anything and it is making me hate driving my new car. I need to get some serious protection before we head out on this road trip to the mountains in ten days and I am totally stuck on what to buy.
I have about $500 or $600 to spend right now and I am torn between a few things. First off for the floor mats should I go with the WeatherTech HP series or just stick with the Lexus OEM all-weather ones? The Lexus ones look nicer and have the logo but I heard the WeatherTechs have better coverage on the sides which I need because my son literally dumps half his juice box every single time we get in the car. But I read somewhere that some mats might block the hybrid battery vents under the back seat? That sounds like a disaster if it overheats the battery.
Then there is the cargo area for the dog. I am looking at the Canvasback liners because they seem to cover the back of the seats too which is huge for when I fold them down but they are so expensive and I am worried they wont arrive before we leave. The other option is just a cheap generic hammock thing from Amazon but those always slide around and look like trash in a luxury car. Does the Canvasback actually stay put with the Velcro on the Lexus carpet or does it ruin the fibers over time?
I am also thinking about getting a ceramic coating for the leather seats like Gtechniq or something but I dont know if I should just buy those neoprene seat covers instead. I really want to keep the luxury feel but I also dont want the seats to be stained blue from everyone's jeans by next month. Should I prioritize the high-end custom liners like Canvasback and WeatherTech or is the OEM stuff from the dealership good enough?
Late to the party but I had to jump in because that Macadamia interior is gorgeous but scary with a dog! I tried so many setups before finding what actually worked.
^ This. Also, 3D MAXpider Kagu All-Weather Floor Mats for Lexus RX are a decent option because they look less industrial than rubber. They shouldnt interfere with the hybrid battery vents if seated correctly. To handle the Macadamia leather staining, Chemical Guys Leather Serum Protective Coating is quite effective for the price. It creates a matte barrier against denim dye transfer without ruining that luxury feel you want to keep.
I've been super happy with my WeatherTech FloorLiner HP Custom Fit set. It works well and honestly I have no complaints about the fit. They wont block the vents if you just seat them properly. For the leather, Gtechniq L1 Leather Guard AB is basically a lifesaver. It keeps the Macadamia looking fresh without changing the luxury feel at all. Totally worth the effort.
