Just grabbed the CX-90 PHEV and the cargo floor is way funkier than my old CX-9 cuz of the battery housing. Need utility gear for our rainy Seattle trips:
Budget is around 400 bucks, any brands actually fit yet?
Like someone mentioned, the battery housing really makes the floor geometry weird compared to the gas model! I learned the hard way after a muddy hike near North Bend when my generic trim to fit mats slid forward and actually caught on the accelerator pedal... absolutely terrifying for a second there. Safety is huge for me now, so I swapped to the Auxko Custom Fit All Weather Floor Mats for Mazda CX-90 PHEV. They use the factory floor clips so they literally cannot move, which is a massive relief. For the trunk, I found the Powertiger Cargo Mat for Mazda CX-90 PHEV is amazing for the split third row! Most trays are one big piece but this one is segmented so you can actually use one seat and leave the other down without the plastic bending or cracking. Love it for grocery runs when I have one kid in the way back. Ngl, I hated having the charger cable just rolling around the trunk thumping against the side. I grabbed a BougeRV EV Cable Bag and it sticks to the carpet with velcro. It keeps everything tidy and stays put during sharp turns. All three together should keep you well under that 400 dollar limit, probably closer to 250! Good luck with the new ride, its such a blast to drive on EV mode.
I had the same issue when I first brought my PHEV home. The battery hump really messes with generic stuff. I spent way too much time trying to make my old mats work before just getting the 3D MAXpider Kagu Floor Mat Set Black. They have this grippy underside that doesnt budge even when my boots are soaking wet from the rain. For the back, I stuck with the Mazda OEM All-Weather Cargo Tray KBBV-V0-360. Its specifically designed for that split third row so you can still fold one side down without the whole tray lifting up or getting caught in the hinge. Quick tip: skip the expensive branded cable bags and just get a Topfit EV Cable Organizer Bag for twenty bucks. It fits perfectly in that small side cubby in the trunk so the charging cord isnt rolling around making noise every time you take a turn. Whole setup fits your budget easy.
> the cargo floor is way funkier Are you running 6 or 7 seats? In my experience, TuxMat Mazda CX-90 Custom Floor Mats provide way better coverage than Smartliner Custom Fit Mats for similar money... both are solid tho.
To add to the point above: the battery placement really does change the interior dimensions more than you would expect compared to the old gas versions. I have spent quite a bit of time testing different setups for the CX-90 PHEV and found that precision fitment is non-negotiable if you want to avoid that annoying sliding sensation in the footwell. For the floor area, I generally suggest looking at TuxMat Floor Mats. They offer exceptional coverage for the CX-90, especially around the driver side footrest where rain and mud usually collect during those Seattle winters.
