Any recommendations for roof racks and cargo carriers for the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross?

I've been doing the whole roof box thing for years but this Eclipse Cross is giving me a headache. I got a big camping trip to the Ozarks in less than two weeks and I'm scrambling to find a rack that wont interfere with the panoramic sunroof. My logic was to go with a Thule WingBar setup like I always do but that sloping roof is so weird. Im worried about the rear hatch hitting the carrier or worse cracking the glass roof with the foot pack pressure.

Looked at the OEM rails but they look super flimsy compared to Yakima. My budget is roughly $900 for the whole kit. Anyone found a specific model that doesnt block the hatch or crush the sunroof?

Honestly, that sloping roof is a total trap if you use a long cargo box. You really gotta watch the hatch clearance or you'll scratch the hell out of your spoiler on day one. I've seen people crack the pano glass by over-tightening generic clamps, so I would suggest sticking to the Yakima JetStream Black 50 inch bars with Yakima RidgeLine Towers for Flush Rails. They feel way sturdier than the OEM rails and give you a bit more height so you dont crush the seals. For the carrier, look at the Thule Motion XT Large 16 cu ft. It has adjustable mounting tracks that let you slide the whole unit forward. It's basically the only way you're gonna clear that rear hatch without hitting the glass. Just be careful with the torque on those towers. TL;DR: Get the Yakima RidgeLine setup for better clearance and the Thule Motion box because its adjustable tracks prevent hatch impact.

Coming back to this, you definitely need to check lead times if youre leaving in two weeks. Are you planning to keep your current box or buy new? If youre starting over, Ive had good luck with the Yakima JetStream Crossbars 50 inch setup. They sit slightly higher than the flush ones which is a lifesaver for pano roofs. For the hatch, look at a Yakima SkyBox 12 Carbonite since its way shorter and wont hang over.

Honestly, that roof design is a mess for your budget... unfortunately, you gotta be careful. Try these:
