Im so tired of stuff sliding around in the back of my Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross every single time I turn a corner. Honestly fed up with the cheap mat that came with it because everything just flies everywhere and now my trunk liner is getting all scratched up.

I have a huge move to Austin happening this Friday and I need to get organized fast. My budget is like $200 max. What are the actually good cargo accessories that actually fit this weird trunk shape?

  • heavy duty mats
  • cargo nets
  • dividers

I really need something that keeps my groceries and small boxes from slamming into the hatch...

Regarding what #1 said about liners, I find stuff still shifts on the surface. When I moved last year, I had a box of glass jars that kept sliding around. I grabbed the Starling's Car Trunk Organizer Adjustable Straps and it actually stayed put. You just hook it into the floor anchors and it keeps your boxes from slamming the hatch. Decent, safe option for that weird trunk space.

To add to the point above: the previous suggestions are solid but for a big move like your trip to Austin, you really gotta think about load stability for safety reasons. If heavy boxes shift during a sudden stop on the highway, it can actually mess with your handling. I looked at a few setups recently that might fit your budget.

  • MAXLINER All Weather Custom Fit Cargo Liner Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross: This one has a much more aggressive texture than the basic rubber mats. It stops stuff from sliding better than the OEM version, though it is a bit stiffer when you first unbox it.
  • Drive Auto Trunk Organizer Large Folding Storage: This is excellent for reliability because of the tie-down straps. For a long haul, you want your gear anchored to the floor anchors, not just resting on the mat. I personally like the Drive Auto one because it handles the stress of heavy groceries without tearing at the seams. You could probably grab both for under $200 and be totally set for Friday.

My current setup actually started when I moved last year. Tbh I realized the floor wasnt the only problem, everything was sliding into the side panels too. What I learned:

  • cheap rubber often smells in the sun
  • weight distribution matters most
  • side walls get scratched easily Be careful with those weight limits back there. Id suggest checking the hatch clearance before stacking boxes too high. Good luck with the move!

In my experience, the only way to stop that sliding is a high-walled tray. I've tried many, but the WeatherTech Cargo Liner for Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross 2018-2024 is basically the gold standard for that weird trunk shape. It actually grips your gear. Pair it with an Mitsubishi Motors Genuine Parts Eclipse Cross Cargo Net and you're set. Skip the cheap universal nets tho, they never stay tight enough.
