Recommended winter wheel and tire setup for Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo?

Hey everyone! I recently took delivery of my Taycan Cross Turismo and I’m absolutely loving the car, but with the temperature starting to drop, I’m getting a bit nervous about the stock performance tires. I live in an area where we get a decent amount of slush and the occasional heavy snowfall, so I want to make sure I have a solid winter setup before the first big storm hits.

I’ve been debating between going with a dedicated 19-inch wheel set for more sidewall protection against winter potholes or sticking with 20s to maintain that sporty look. I’m also curious if anyone has noticed a significant range hit when switching to winter rubber like the Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 SUV or the Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3. Since the Cross Turismo has that slightly higher ride height, I really want to take advantage of it for some light winter adventuring, but I want to stay within Porsche’s recommended specs to avoid any warranty or sensor issues.

Does anyone here have experience with specific wheel and tire combos that balance grip and efficiency well? I'd love to hear what offsets you're running or if you just went with the official Tequipment packages from the dealer.

Hi there, I totally get being nervous about those stock tires! In my experience, going with the Porsche Tequipment 19-inch Taycan S Aero Winter Wheel and Tire Set is the SAFEST bet.

* **19-inch setup:** Better pothole protection and cheaper rubber.
* **20-inch setup:** Looks better but more prone to rim damage.

I personally use the Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 SUV and honestly, I'm very happy with the grip. Range drops about 10%, but safety first! Hope this helps!

For your situation, I totally recommend prioritizing safety over looks! I've found that a bit more rubber makes a huge difference in the slush.

1. Go with the Bridgestone Blizzak LM-005 225/55R19—the wet grip is absolutely amazing for heavy snow!
2. Stick to 19s to avoid rim damage from hidden winter potholes... seriously, its a lifesaver.

Jumping in here because I went through this last year with my CT. Honestly, I prioritized the balance between tech specs and real-world costs.

1. Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3 285/40R20 vs. Continental WinterContact TS 860 S 245/45R20: I chose the Pirellis for the 20s. They handle the slush better than the Contis, but the range hit was about 10% on teh highway.
2. Porsche 20-inch Taycan Turbo Aero Design Winter Wheel and Tire Set: I almost went 19s, but these 20s looked so much better and didn't sacrifice as much efficiency as I feared.

I mean, 19s are definitely cheaper for rubber, but for light adventuring, the 20s felt more stable on dry pavement between storms. No sensor issues at all!

I went through this last year. Honestly, I spent weeks comparing market options because I was worried about the range hit on my CT. I looked closely at the Continental WinterContact TS 870 P vs. the Hankook options. I eventually settled on the Hankook Winter i*cept evo3 W330 for my 20-inch setup. They felt a bit more stable in deep slush than the Pirellis I've tried before, though the efficiency drop was still about 10-15% in freezing temps. Might want to consider that!
