Hey everyone! I just picked up a TRX and I’m beyond excited to hit some desert trails. Since it’s already a beast, I’m curious what additions are actually necessary for protection and recovery. Should I prioritize rock sliders or upgraded lighting first? What specific gear are you guys running for serious off-road trips?
Story time: I went through this last year and ngl, desert trails are unforgiving! I almost toasted my front end cuz I lacked technical armor. Protection is basically VITAL...
* Addictive Desert Designs Stealth Fighter Front Skid Plate
* Element E50 Professional Fire Extinguisher
Honestly, safety first!! I'd definitely consult a pro about the weight limits though. Peace!
Yo! Congrats on the TRX!! If ur on a budget, I think you should skip the expensive armor for now. Focus on recovery basics first!
* X-BULL Generation 2.0 Recovery Tracks (~$80) - way cheaper than a winch tbh.
* Boulder Tools Heavy Duty Tire Pressure Pro Gauge and Deflator Kit (~$25) - basically mandatory for airing down... I think?
Honestly, these are so AMAZING for the money and totally necessary... gl!
oh man, congrats on the beast!! Seriously, the TRX is amazing but desert trails can be brutal on the body. Honestly, I’d prioritize protection before lighting. Lighting is cool but it wont save ur door if u slide into rocks and stuff lol.
Here is what I recommend based on my trips:
1. **Rock Sliders:** I run the White Knuckle Off Road Ram 1500 TRX Rock Sliders.
- Pros: Actually saves the body from damage; works as a solid step.
- Cons: Costs like $1,300+ and adds significant weight.
2. **Upgraded Lighting:** Like the Baja Designs Squadron Pro LED Driving/Combo Light Pods.
- Pros: Highkey better visibility for night runs.
- Cons: Doesn't help with protection at all.
In my experience, grab the sliders first. Also, get a Yankum Ropes 1.5 Inch x 30 Foot Kinetic Recovery Rope for recovery. It’s way safer for a heavy truck like the TRX... basically a must-have imo. gl!
Nice, didn't know that
