Hey everyone! I’m absolutely obsessed with the new Rivian R3X reveal. That rally-inspired look is just perfect, and I’m already dreaming about taking it on some off-road weekend trips once it finally hits the market. Since it’s a bit more compact than the R1S or R1T, I’m trying to figure out the best way to kit it out for camping without making it feel cluttered.

I’m specifically curious about what kind of roof racks or slim rooftop tents you think will fit that smaller roofline without looking too bulky. Also, with Rivian’s focus on modularity, I’m wondering if anyone has heard rumors about specific R3X-sized kitchen inserts or specialized storage bins that might work for this model. I’m really interested in maximizing that interior space for sleeping—has anyone seen confirmed measurements for the 'lay-flat' seats to see if a full-size camp mattress actually fits comfortably?

I love the built-in flashlight and those rugged interior materials, but I want to make sure I get gear that complements the vehicle’s smaller footprint and NACS charging setup. Does anyone have recommendations for high-quality, compact gear that matches that 'adventure hatchback' vibe? Specifically, what do you think will be the must-have accessories to utilize those rear bumper accessory ports?

yo, honestly for the R3X ur gonna want to watch those roof weight limits because being top-heavy makes off-roading super sketchy... actually dangerous. i mean, it's a smaller hatch, so i'd stick with the Thule WingBar Edge because it's low profile and wont mess with ur center of gravity too much. also for those bumper ports, just make sure the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 Bike Rack is rated correctly so it doesnt bounce or snap off on trails lol.

Oh man, I am so hyped for the R3X reveal!! I remember when I first kitted out my EV for camping, I went way too heavy with a massive tent and it *literally* killed my range. Not to mention, the handling felt super sketchy on windy roads... realy scary stuff. Since the R3X is an "adventure hatchback," I think keeping it light is gonna be key for safety. Here is what I would suggest for a stable setup:
• Roof: The iKamper Skycamp 3.0 Mini is perfect cuz it’s slim and won't catch too much wind.
• Interior: I’m guessing the Luno Life Self-Inflating Air Camping Mattress will work great, but maybe wait for confirmed dimensions before buying?
• Bumper: A Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack would be sick for those ports, but honestly, be realy careful not to exceed the weight limit back there. Lesson learned: always check your roof load limits and tongue weight twice before you buy gear. Better safe than sorry tho!! 👍

Story time: I compared Roofnest Falcon 2 vs iKamper Skycamp 3.0 Mini. Falcon’s aero is best, but be careful with the iKamper’s drag; it might tank your range during NACS hauls, tbh.

Quick reply while I have a sec—seconding the recommendation above! Aero is honestly everything. If ur looking to save cash, just go with Thule or Yakima for the racks. You cant go wrong with the basics and itll save you a ton over official gear. Ngl, those bumper ports are the real MVP for DIY storage hacks... just keep it light so your not killing the battery! 👍
