I’m super excited about my R2 reservation, but coming from a larger vehicle, I’m already thinking about how to maximize the interior space. Since the R2 is more compact than the R1S and doesn't have that signature gear tunnel, I really want to find the best ways to keep the frunk and rear cargo area organized. I’m specifically looking for modular bins or a sturdy drawer system that won't slide around during light off-roading. Has anyone found high-quality center console dividers or seat-back organizers that match the R2's unique interior aesthetic? What are the top storage accessories you’re planning to buy first to keep your gear from becoming a mess?
hey! dude i feel u on the R2 excitement!! honestly, maximizing space in a smaller EV is like a puzzle but sooo worth it. basically, the R2 is amazing but because it has that flat floor and no gear tunnel, items tend to slide around way more than in a traditional SUV. that's why securing your gear is highkey important for both safety and keeping your sanity during those weekend trips. here's what i am planning to grab based on my experience with smaller adventure rigs: 1. Hard Case vs. Soft Organizer (Frunk/Rear):
- YETI LoadOut GoBox 30 Gear Case: i mean, this thing is literally indestructible. - Pros: waterproof, great for light off-roading cuz it wont slide, has amazing internal dividers.
- Cons: its pricey (around $170!!) and takes up fixed space even when empty.
- Thule Go Box Large: much more flexible for the rear cargo area.
- Pros: cheaper, can collapse when you dont need it, way easier to carry into a hotel or campsite.
- Cons: stuff can still shift around inside, definately not waterproof for muddy gear in the frunk. 2. Center Console:
- You gotta get the BestEvMod Center Console Organizer Tray for Rivian R2. I have a similar one in my current car and it makes such a difference for holding keys and sunglasses. i think it looks way more professional than just having a deep hole of junk... it fits the R2 aesthetic perfectly imo. 3. Seat Backs:
- I'm looking at the Blue Ridge Overland Gear Molle Seat Back Organizer. It's super rugged and matches that Rivian outdoorsy vibe. i guess it's a bit technical looking, but if you want utility, it's fantastic for holding flashlights and small tools. Anyway, i mean... the R2 interior is fantastic but stay organized or you'll lose your mind lol. good luck! 👍
Similar situation here! I went through this when downsizing my old SUV and I'm pretty worried about stuff flying around in a smaller R2. I've been comparing these for my setup: * Yeti LoadOut GoBox 30 Gear Case: Super sturdy and wont budge, but it's kinda heavy. * Front Runner Wolf Pack Pro: Lighter and stackable, tho feels less secure. I'm basically gonna go with the Yeti cuz safety is my main thing. gl!
Bookmarked, thanks!
Would love to know this too
