Hey everyone! We recently upgraded to a Subaru Ascent for our family of five, and while we love the space, the trunk is already becoming a bit of a chaotic mess after soccer practice and grocery runs. I’m looking for the best cargo management accessories to keep things organized. I’ve been eyeing the OEM folding cargo tray, but I’m curious if anyone prefers aftermarket dividers or nets, especially for that deep well behind the third row. Do you guys find the seatback protectors worth it, or should I look into a heavy-duty cargo box? We have a big road trip coming up and really need to maximize the space. What are your must-have cargo accessories for the Ascent?
yo, jumping in here! so basically, the Ascent's cargo geometry is kinda tricky because of that deep well behind the third row. honestly, if you dont fill it properly, everything just slides and hits the liftgate—super annoying, right? i mean, i actually had issues with the oem tray because it's a bit too slick for plastic grocery bags. i guess it's okay, but for the price? meh. here is what i suggest for a budget-friendly technical setup:
• Drive Auto Trunk Organizer Collapsible Storage - usually $25-$30. it fits the well’s dimensions perfectly so soccer gear stays put.
• Star Brite Heavy Duty 27 Gallon Storage Tote - around $15. highkey better for road trips than flimsy bags and fits the lower floor area.
• Sanatty Car Ceiling Cargo Net - about $20. use the grab handles to store light stuff like blankets or jackets up high. anyway, hope that helps. good luck with the road trip!! 👍
In my experience, skip OEM and save cash: 1. WeatherTech Cargo Liner: Tougher than factory but harder to fold.
2. Rola 59100 M.O.V.E. Rigid Base Trunk Organizer: Better than nets? gl!
In my experience, after three years with our Ascent, the trunk area was a disaster at first. Honestly, it works best if you get the seatback protectors since kids can be rough on the interior. Here is what I recommend:
• Subaru Ascent Rear Seat Back Protector J131SXC001
• Subaru Ascent Cargo Net F551SXC000 Basically, OEM nets are a decent option cuz they actually fit the anchors properly, right?
Been using this for years, no complaints
