Ive been following the cybertruck since day one basically and I already have an early reservation number but Im getting tired of waiting for my specific VIN assignment. My current Model X is starting to have some suspension issues and I really need to get into a Cyberbeast specifically for some heavy towing projects we have starting next month in Austin. I’ve been checking the inventory tracker daily and even tried talking to some of the guys at the local service center but they’re giving me the runaround about the Foundation Series rollout. I thought for sure more of the tri-motor beasts would be hitting the secondary market or showing up as demo units by now but it seems like everyone is just sitting on them or the markups are just insane.
Im looking to spend around 120k-130k but I really need it like yesterday. I have tried a couple things so far:
Does anyone know a specific dealership or a private seller that isnt trying to scalp for like 200k? Or maybe a way to see which showrooms have actual physical stock ready to go? Ive checked the usual places but everything looks like a scam or a placeholder. Anyone seen any real inventory lately?
^ This. Also, unfortunately finding a Tesla Cybertruck Cyberbeast for 130k is basically impossible right now. I had issues with the Austin service centers too, but the markups are just unavoidable. If youre in a hurry for those towing projects, maybe consider a Chevrolet Silverado EV RST instead. Paying a 60k premium for the Beast right now is honestly a bad financial move.
Just catching up on this thread. In my experience with these low-volume rollouts over the years, the big aggregators like Autotrader are basically the worst place to look because of the lag time. Most listings there are just bait for lead gen. If you want to stay in that 130k range without getting hit by the insane Austin markups, you should probably be looking at Find My Electric or even keeping an eye on Bring a Trailer daily. They tend to have more vetted sellers than the random flippers on social media. Honestly, if you really need the towing capacity by next month and the Cyberbeast VIN is stuck in limbo, you might consider picking up a used Rivian R1T Dual-Motor Max Pack as a bridge vehicle. It handles the torque requirements for heavy projects easily and you can find them well within your budget right now. You could even look at a Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum Edition for the interim. You could probably flip either of those back in a few months when your actual reservation finally lands without losing much... usually works out better than paying a 70k premium to a scalper.
Man, I feel your pain with the Austin service centers... they can be pretty vague sometimes. Honestly finding a Tesla Cybertruck Cyberbeast Tri-Motor AWD at the 130k mark is gonna be really tricky right now because everyone is still trying to flip them for a profit. I'd be super careful with those Autotrader listings tho, many are just bait using stock photos. If you compare the Beast versus the Tesla Cybertruck Foundation Series Dual Motor AWD, the Beast is obviously the king for your towing projects, but the Dual Motor is actually showing up in actual inventory way more often. I would suggest checking the Tesla Motors Club marketplace instead of the big generic sites. You might want to consider an exotic car dealer in Dallas too. They usually have physical stock ready to go, but the markups are brutal. Just make sure to verify the title... seen too many scams lately.
