I was thinking about the 3D Maxpider mats since I hate that plastic feel of WeatherTech, but will they hold up in Seattle rain?

Also my logic was a portable L2 charger is better for travel, but maybe a Grizzl-E is safer for home. Budget is $600 for everything. What do you think?...

> my logic was a portable L2 charger is better for travel, but maybe a Grizzl-E is safer for home. Stumbled upon this and wanted to chime in on the safety side. Honestly, be careful with the portable charger idea if you plan on plugging and unplugging it daily. Most NEMA 14-50 outlets are not industrial grade and the constant friction wears down the internal contacts, which can lead to arcing or even fire over time. I would suggest going hardwired for home. It eliminates the plug-in point of failure entirely. The Emporia Level 2 EV Charger 48 Amp UL Listed is a solid choice because it handles sustained high-amperage loads safely and gives you better data on your usage. For the mats, since you're in Seattle, make sure to consider how much moisture the material holds. The LASFIT Floor Mats for Volkswagen ID.4 All-Weather TPE might be a better bet than 3D Maxpider. They use a flexible TPE that doesn't feel like brittle plastic but still has deep channels to catch rain. Fabric-textured mats tend to stay damp and can actually cause window fogging issues in the PNW winters.

Building on the earlier suggestion, make sure to consider:

Grizzl-E is solid for home use.

I had those exact same mats in my last EV and they survived three years of wet boots without getting that gross chalky look plastic mats get. They handle the water fine, but the texture traps more grit. Just curious tho, do you already have a 240v outlet in your garage or would you need to install one? Also, how much trunk space are you willing to give up for a bulky portable cable?
