I have had my XC40 since 2020 and man, I went through a total journey finding a cam that didnt drive me crazy! I remember being so paranoid about those sensors behind the mirror but I eventually realized there is actually plenty of space if you mount it slightly to the passenger side. After years of testing different setups, these are my absolute favorites:

• Thinkware U1000 4K UHD Dash Cam: I used this for a long time and it is amazing for parking protection! The energy-saving mode is fantastic because it basically sleeps until it feels a bump, so it wont drain your battery. Pros: Super reliable and the 4K video is crisp. Cons: It is a bit pricey compared to others.
• VIOFO A139 Pro 4K Dash Cam: This is my current daily driver and I love it!! The Sony Starvis 2 sensor is literal magic for seeing license plates at night. Pros: Best night vision I have ever seen. Cons: You have to hide a few more wires than the 'factory look' ones. Both of these have been totally fine with my City Safety system too... never had a single false brake or warning in all these years!
