Does anyone know where I can find a decent Audi A4 for under 10k that wont just die on me immediately? Honestly so fed up with my current situation. My old car literally just gave up the ghost on the highway this morning and I need a replacement like yesterday because I commute from Queens to Jersey every day for work and public transit is a nightmare for my shift. I really want an A4 because they look great but every one I see on marketplace under my budget is a total wreck or has like 200k miles. Im getting super stressed out trying to find something reliable before Monday. If anyone has a lead in the tri-state area please let me know...

Get a Audi A4 B8.5 2013-2016 2.0T Quattro.

  • Focus on 2013+
  • Avoid early B8 models Its way more reliable for that commute... basically the only solid option tho.

Just saw this. @Reply #1 - good point! I bought a cheap 2011 A4 for my commute once and it was a total money pit. Maintenance is no joke after 100k miles. Make sure to bring a Ancel AD310 Classic OBD2 Scanner to check for cleared codes.

  • Budget $2000 for surprise repairs
  • Watch out for oil consumption Be careful, those Queens to Jersey miles will kill a neglected Audi fast.

Jumping in here because that commute from Queens to Jersey is a serious grind. Honestly, finding a reliable A4 for under 10k is a significant gamble. You really need to be methodical about checking technical history before handing over your cash:

  • Timing chain tensioners are a critical failure point. If the owner cant provide documentation that it was updated, youre looking at potential engine failure.
  • Excessive oil consumption is a documented issue on the older 2.0T engines. This becomes a major headache when youre doing high-mileage daily driving.
  • Cooling system components like the water pump often fail around the 100k mark. If you prioritize reliability for your job, you might want to look at an Acura or Lexus. They offer a premium feel with much lower risk of a catastrophic breakdown. A sub-10k Audi often hides expensive suspension or electrical issues... just be careful.
