Hey everyone! I recently took delivery of my new Audi Q8 e-tron, and while I’m absolutely loving the quiet ride and the tech, I’m already getting a bit paranoid about keeping the trunk carpet in pristine condition. Between hauling muddy hiking gear on the weekends and the occasional leak from grocery bags, I know I need a high-quality cargo liner sooner rather than later.
I’ve been looking at the official Audi OEM liners, but I’ve heard mixed reviews about whether they provide enough coverage around the edges. I’m also considering aftermarket options like WeatherTech or TuxMat, but I’m worried about the fitment—specifically how they handle the side cubbies and the tie-down hooks in the Q8 e-tron’s trunk. Since mine is the standard SUV body style (not the Sportback), I want to make sure I get something that matches the premium feel of the interior without looking too "industrial."
Does anyone have a specific brand they swear by for this model? I'm particularly interested in something with a raised lip to catch spills that isn't so slippery that my gear slides around every time I take a corner. For those who have bought one recently, how is the fit and finish around the edges of the trunk floor?
Did this last week, worked perfectly

Quick question - are you planning on using the cargo tie-down hooks or the net that comes with the Q8 e-tron regularly, or do you mostly just want full coverage for the carpet??
Before I give advice, I really think you gotta consider the trade-offs between different materials in this market. Basically, you have TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) which is like the Audi OEM or WeatherTech style, versus the more fabric-like or multi-layered synthetics like TuxMat. Based on my market research and literally years of trial and error with luxury SUVs, the TPE stuff is great for mud but can be dangerously slippery. I've seen heavy gear slide and actually dent the interior plastic trim because the mat had zero grip.
I would suggest being very careful with the "industrial" looking ones because they often lack the friction needed for a quiet ride. Since the Q8 e-tron is so silent, you'll hear every single thing sliding around back there and it'll drive you crazy!! Plus, some of those high-lip liners actually block the side cubbies entirely, making them useless. Honestly, you might want to consider if you're okay with cutting into a brand-new liner to access the tie-downs, cuz most "full coverage" options require that. It’s a bit of a gamble with fitment around those specific hooks, so let me know how much you value accessibility vs. total protection! 👍

Honestly, avoid the OEM Audi liners... they're basically a waste of money because the TPE material is way too thin and doesn't grip your gear at all. Plus, they don't cover the cubbies properly so mud just spills right onto the carpet anyway! For the best value, honestly just get the 3D MAXpider ones; they aren't as industrial as WeatherTech but they're way more affordable than TuxMat and actually stay put.
In my experience, I think WeatherTech is safer for spills, though I've heard TuxMat fits better around the cubbies... iirc the OEM ones are way too slippery tbh, so basically watch out!
I am literally dealing with this exact same nightmare right now and it is so frustrating. Took my Q8 e-tron SUV up to the mountains last weekend and ended up with mud everywhere because the temporary mat I bought just slid right out of place during a sharp turn... totally ruined the vibe.
