I’m loving my new e-tron GT, but I’m already worried about scuffing up those wide door sills. Does anyone have recommendations for high-quality protectors? I’m looking for something that fits the premium look—maybe carbon fiber or a clear PPF. Has anyone tried the OEM ones, or are there better aftermarket options that actually stay in place?

I totally agree with the PPF route, it is absolutely amazing for keeping that factory look while being super cost-effective. If you are going the DIY route like I did, you really have to be careful about your workspace. One major warning: never attempt this outdoors or in a breezy garage! Even a tiny speck of dust will look like a massive bubble under clear film on those wide sills, and it will drive you crazy every time you open the door. For a professional result, I recommend following a methodical prep routine:

  • Clean the area twice with an isopropyl alcohol mix
  • Use a dedicated slip solution (distilled water and a drop of baby shampoo)
  • Work from the center out with a squeegee to avoid trapping air You can find fantastic tutorials on YouTube that explain the exact ratios for these solutions. Just dont use a sharp blade directly on the paint if you are trimming bulk film... that is a recipe for disaster. Honestly, just get a dedicated squeegee tool and take your time with it!
