I just picked up a new Cadillac CT5 and I'm looking to install a high-quality dash cam setup to protect it. I'm specifically interested in something that doesn't ruin the clean interior aesthetic of the Caddy. Has anyone here used the FitcamX for that integrated OEM look, or is it better to go with a high-end BlackVue or Vantrue setup? I'm particularly concerned about the parking mode battery drain and whether I should use a hardwire kit or an external battery pack. Ideally, I'd like a front and rear dual-channel system. For those with a CT5, which brand fits best behind the rearview mirror without blocking the safety sensors? Any advice on the cleanest wiring routes would be awesome!

Ok so I actually had a pretty bad experience with integrated cams cuz the heat dissipation was honestly terrible. For the CT5, i'd skip the cheap stuff and go with the VIOFO A229 Pro 2-CH 4K Dash Cam with 5GHz Wi-Fi and Sony Starvis 2 Sensors. It basically fits right behind the mirror without blocking any sensors, and the 4K quality is literally top-tier for reading plates. Also, don't just hardwire to the fuse box if you're worried about the batteryβ€”get the BlackVue Power Magic Ultra Battery B-130X. It's kinda pricey but avoids all those low-voltage shutoff issues Caddies are known for. GL!

For your situation, safety and reliability are the priority, especially if you're worried about parking mode drain on that nice CT5. Honestly, I've been through a few setups over the years and i'm kinda biased toward the premium brands for long-term peace of mind. Here's what I recommend:

- **The Solid Professional Pick:** I'd skip the integrated looks and go with the BlackVue DR970X-2CH Plus 4K UHD Dual-Channel Dash Cam. It's super slim, basically disappears behind the mirror, and won't mess with your safety sensors at all.
- **Power Management:** Since you're worried about the battery, don't just hardwire it. Get a dedicated BlackVue Power Magic Ultra Battery B-130X. It avoids the "Battery Low" warnings that Caddys are notorious for when things are plugged into the OBD or fuse box.
- **Storage:** Make sure you grab a high-end card like the SanDisk 256GB MAX Endurance microSDXC Card so it actually survives the heat.

Basically, high-end BlackVue hardware is the way to go if you want it to just... work. Plus, the wiring is easy to tuck into the headliner for that clean look. gl!

Sooo I actually went through this exact dilemma with my Caddy. Honestly, I started with the FitcamX 4K Dash Cam for Cadillac CT5 because I was obsessed with that clean factory look. It literally replaces the plastic shell behind the mirror and looks amazing, but I had some issues with the app stability and the night vision wasn't as good as I expected for the price. I ended up returning it cuz I needed better reliability for parking mode.

For your situation, I would suggest going with the BlackVue DR970X-2CH Plus 4K UHD Dual-Channel Dash Cam. It's more expensive, but the video quality is way better and it doesn't block the safety sensors at all if you tuck it right behind the mirror on the passenger side.

About the battery drain? Yeah, don't just hardwire it to the fuse box if you plan on leaving it for more than 24 hours. These CT5s have tons of electronics and the battery protection is kinda sensitive. I ended up getting the BlackVue B-130X Ultra Magic Battery Pack and tucked it under the seat. It charges while you drive and powers the cam when you're parked, so zero stress about a dead car battery.

Route the rear cable along the headliner on the passenger sideβ€”it's actually super easy to hide the wires in the weather stripping. Just watch out for the side airbags! Hope that helps, gl with the new ride! 👍

Ok so I've gotta be honest, I've had some pretty bad luck with those integrated styles... unfortunately the heat sink designs are just not as good as expected for long-term reliability. For a Caddy CT5, I'd seriously recommend the Thinkware U3000 Dual Channel 4K Dash Cam instead.

It's pricey but basically the gold standard for low power draw. Here's why I suggest it:
- Uses radar for parking mode, so it won't kill your battery like others
- Super discreet behind the mirror
- Honestly, just get the Thinkware iVolt BAB-50 External Dash Cam Battery Pack to be 100% safe.

Professional install is a MUST for the CT5 safety sensors tho!!
