Hey everyone! I just took delivery of my CT5-V Blackwing and I’m looking for a solid dash cam setup to protect this investment. While the built-in PDR is great for track days, it’s not ideal for daily 24/7 security or parking incidents. I’m really looking for a 4K front and rear system that offers a clean, "OEM-plus" look without wires hanging all over the premium interior. I'm especially concerned about finding a setup with a reliable parking mode that won't drain the battery or mess with the car's electronics. Has anyone found a specific model that integrates well with our mirror housing or a shop that does a seamless install? What are you guys running to keep your Blackwings safe?

Well, I'm definitely a bit of a beginner here, but I've been looking into the same thing for my own peace of mind. For your situation, I would suggest the VIOFO A139 Pro 2-Channel 4K Dash Cam. It's a decent option that usually costs around $270, which is way more budget-friendly than some of those $600 systems people recommend.

Honestly, I’m always a bit cautious about messing with premium car electronics, so I’d really recommend a professional install. You should probably use the VIOFO HK4 Hardwire Kit for the parking mode. It has a built-in voltage protector so it wont drain your battery. It's a solid way to get that 4K front and rear coverage without spending a fortune. Just make sure the shop hides the wires behind the pillars for that clean look. Hope this helps!

Respectfully, I'd consider another option if you're serious about protecting a Blackwing. While those integrated shells look neat, they often lack the high-end sensors needed for true 4K clarity, especially at night. After years of running various setups, I've learned that safety-first means prioritizing the hardware over just the aesthetics.

To avoid battery drain and electrical gremlins, the secret isn't the camera—it's the power source. I've had much better long-term success using a dedicated battery pack like the BlackVue Power Magic Ultra Battery B-130X instead of tapping into the car's fuse box. This way, the dash cam runs off its own juice while parked and only charges when the engine is on. For the camera itself, I'm extremely satisfied with the Thinkware U3000 Dual Channel 4K Dash Cam with 128GB microSD. It uses Radar sensors for parking mode, which is MUCH more energy-efficient than traditional motion detection. It's a premium investment, but for a car like this, it's worth teh extra peace of mind. Hope this helps!

For your situation, I'd suggest checking out the VIOFO A129 Plus Duo 2K Front and 1080P Rear Dash Cam. It's a solid budget-friendly alternative that delivers great reliability without the 4K price premium. Hope this helps!

Quick question—are you planning to install a dedicated battery pack, or are you strictly looking at hardwiring into the fuse box? Honestly, having tracked market trends for years, the high bitrate of 4K units can really stress the CT5's electrical system in parking mode. Before I suggest something like the Vantrue N4 Pro 3 Channel 4K Dash Cam, I need to know your tolerance for adding a secondary power source to keep that "OEM-plus" look clean. Tbh, the Blackwing's electronics can be finicky!

To add to the point above: you definitely gotta be cautious with the power draw on these cars because the electronics can be pretty finicky. I remember when I first picked up my Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing and I was so worried about every little detail that I spent hours in the driveway just adjusting the mirror tilt and seat memory. It actually reminded me of this road trip I took down to the coast a few years back. My cousin brought this old cooler that leaked all over the trunk of my car, and we had to stop at like three different gas stations just to find enough paper towels to soak it all up. We ended up missing the sunset because we were too busy scrubbing lukewarm fish water out of the carpet at a self-serve car wash in the middle of nowhere. It took weeks to get that smell out, honestly... anyway lol, sorry kinda went off topic there.

Honestly, I've had issues with high-end setups draining batteries in the past. If you're on a budget but want that OEM look, I recommend the Fitcamx 4K Dash Cam for Cadillac CT5. It swaps directly with the mirror shell for about $180—super clean. Pair it with a Samsung PRO Endurance 128GB microSDXC to save some cash over the pricier brands. It’s way cheaper than a custom shop install, tbh!
