I’m officially a proud Cadillac LYRIQ owner, but I’m still sorting out my home charging station. While the dual-voltage cord that comes with the car is okay, I’m looking for a more permanent Level 2 setup to maximize that 19.2 kW onboard charging capability. I’m particularly worried about cable management because the charger cord is pretty heavy and I don't want it trailing across the garage floor. Does anyone have recommendations for high-quality wall mounts, specific holster brands, or even weather-proof covers if you're charging outside? I’d love to know which accessories make your daily plug-in routine easier and keep things looking organized. Which specific Level 2 chargers or cable organizers have you found work best with the LYRIQ?
Just sharing my experience: I went through this last year trying to hit that 19.2 kW speed. Hardwiring was a journey—I learned you basically need a 100A breaker! Since the cord is heavy, I used a Gladiator GarageWorks Deep Hook to manage the weight. It’s a decent option and handles the bulk better than plastic. If you're outside, maybe try the Eco-Worthy EV Charger Cover. It’s not fancy but it works!
Honestly, I had issues with flimsy mounts. The Suncast Garden Hose Hanger is way sturdier than the J+ Booster 2 Wall Bracket. It’s cheaper and handles ur heavy cord better, ngl.
Yo, congrats on the LYRIQ! Seriously, such a cool car. I was in the same boat last month and honestly I'm SO happy with my setup now. Since you want that 19.2 kW speed, I basically had to go with the GM Ultium PowerUp Level 2 Charging Station. Most others don't go that high, and while it was kinda expensive, it's totally worth it for the fast top-offs. For the cable mess, I got the Lectron J1772 EV Charger Nozzle Holster and Cable Organizer for like $20 and it's been a lifesaver... i mean, the cable is heavy af so you DEFINATELY dont want it on the floor. It keeps everything lookin clean and the holster clicks in nice and tight. So yeah, definitely recommend that combo if you want a solid permanent setup without breaking the bank too much on accessories. Good luck!! 👍
Saved for later, ty!
> I’m particularly worried about cable management because the charger cord is pretty heavy and I don't want it trailing across the garage floor. Honestly, I've had a really frustrating time with those standard plastic cable holders everyone seems to love. They're just not as good as expected when you're dealing with the weight of a heavy-duty EV cable, unfortunately. I had a couple of them crack on me after just a few months... such a headache. If you want something that actually lasts, I'd say just look into anything from Grizzl-E. Their hardware is usually built way tougher than the generic stuff. You could also check out whatever mounts Wallbox is selling these days, as they tend to be a bit more robust too. Just stay away from the cheap plastic stuff. Also, you should really check out the State of Charge channel on YouTube if you haven't already. Tom does amazing deep dives into cable management and durability for chargers. It’s a great resource when you're trying to avoid buying junk that wont last. Let me know if you need help finding his specific Lyriq videos!
Would love to know this too
