Hey everyone! I just picked up a 2024 Chevy Trax in Cacti Green and I am absolutely loving the new design. However, I want to make sure it's protected and functional for some upcoming road trips. I'm currently looking at adding a few things to the exterior but I'm not sure what's actually worth the money.

I'm specifically considering these:

  • Roof rack crossbars for my kayak
  • Molded splash guards to keep the sides clean
  • A custom hood protector for rock chips

Since this model is still pretty new, I'd love to hear from anyone who has already added some gear. Are there any specific brands you recommend or things you wish you had installed sooner? Which exterior accessories do you think are absolute must-haves for the new Trax?

Agree with the deflectors, they're a huge help. If you want to save money on the kayak setup, I'd skip the expensive mounts. I picked up the TMS J-Bar Rack HD Kayak Carrier and they work just as well as the pricey ones. Honestly, you dont need to pay dealership prices for the crossbars either, generic ones fit just fine and save a ton of cash.

Spot on with the splash guards, but definitely look into WeatherTech Side Window Deflectors Dark Smoke. The in-channel mount is technically better for reducing highway wind buffeting and cabin noise.

Huh interesting. I had no idea. The more you know I guess 🤷

Congrats on the Cacti Green Trax! That color is honestly the best choice for the new body style. I spent a lot of time researching the same stuff for my 24 Activ when I first got it. For the roof, I compared the Chevrolet Accessories Roof Rack Cross Rail Package Black and the Thule WingBar Edge Roof Rack System. The OEM rails are way more budget-friendly and look factory-clean, but the Thule setup is much quieter if you are doing 70mph on the highway. You definitely need the Chevrolet Accessories Molded Splash Guards Front and Rear Black. They wrap around the wheel well perfectly, unlike those cheap universal flaps that look tacky. For the hood, the Lund Aeroskin Hood Protector Smoke is a lifesaver for rock chips. It is super low profile compared to the bulky old-school bug deflectors. These are total must-haves for road trips imo!

> A custom hood protector for rock chips Honestly those hood protectors are kinda disappointing. I had one on my last car and it just trapped grit and moisture underneath, which basically ruined the clear coat after a few months. Not exactly the reliability I was hoping for... Its great you're being proactive tho. Reminds me of when I tried to baby my old SUV before a big trip to the coast. We stopped at this roadside stand that sold nothing but antique clocks. The guy running it was like ninety years old and could tell you the history of every single pendulum in the place. I spent two hours looking at clocks while my wife sat in the car getting more and more annoyed because we were missing the sunset. I still have the tiny wooden clock I bought there even if it doesn't keep time right. Anyway lol sorry kinda went off topic there.
