Which phone mount works best in a Chevy Cruze?

I’m struggling to find a good spot for a phone mount in my Cruze. The curved dash and the screen placement make it tricky to use a suction or adhesive mount without blocking the vents or the infotainment display. Does anyone have a specific brand or mounting style that fits the interior layout perfectly? I’m looking for something sturdy that won't shake while driving.

For your situation, I would suggest looking at a vent clip mount, but you gotta be careful because those Cruze vents are kinda flimsy. I struggled with this too because I didnt wanna block my screen or ruin the dash with sticky glue. I ended up getting the Lamicall Car Vent Phone Mount and it was like $12 on sale, so basically super cheap compared to those fancy brands. It works okay, but honestly I'm always worried about snapping the plastic vent slats if I hit a big bump. Just make sure to tighten it slowly and dont force it too much tho. It might be worth checking if your vents can actually handle the weight of your phone first!! Good luck lol.

Sooo, I went through this last year with my Gen 2 Cruze and honestly, it was such a headache. The dashboard is basically one giant curve, so my old suction mounts kept failing every time it got hot out. I tried a few different setups because I'm kinda picky about blocking the infotainment screen or the air vents.

In my experience, standard mounts just dont cut it here.

* I tried a sticky pad on the dash, but it left a nasty residue and eventually peeled off.
* CD slot mounts worked okay, but they block the radio controls and look kinda messy.

Basically, I ended up ditching the generic stuff and grabbed a ProClip Center Mount 855208 for the dash frame. It's way sturdier than that Lamicall Car Vent Phone Mount mentioned earlier since it clips into the seams of the trim. It highkey feels like a factory part and doesnt shake at all, even on crappy roads! gl!

So basically the consensus is that the Cruze interior is a total nightmare for standard mounts cuz of all those curves. Tbh, everyone's right about the heat killing suction cups and the vents being too flimsy for heavy phones. Since you're worried about safety and shaking, I'll add my two cents from a technical perspective.

I've seen this way too often. If you want real stability without blocking your view, you gotta look at CD slot mounts or specific console clips. The Kenu Airframe Pro is a solid high-end vent option that's way sturdier than the cheap ones, but for zero-shake safety, I'd go with the iOttie Easy One Touch 5 CD Slot Mount. It's about $25 and uses the CD player (which nobody uses anyway) as a structural anchor. It's way safer cuz it doesn't block your windshield visibility or fly off during a sharp turn. Definitely the best value proposition for a bumpy commute!! gl!

Ok so, I've had my Cruze for about six years now and honestly, I've wasted sooo much money trying to find a mount that doesn't just fall off the second the sun hits the dash. The interior layout is basically a nightmare for standard mounts because everything is either curved or textured.

I tried those cheap sticky pads and generic suction cups, but unfortunately, they just dont hold up long-term in this car. If you're looking for something budget-friendly that actually *works* without blocking your screen or ruining the vents, here is what I've learned from my trial and error:

• For a really solid budget pick, check out the iOttie Easy One Touch 5 Dash & Windshield Universal Car Mount. It's usually around $25. I know you said you're worried about the curved dash, but the sticky gel pad on this one is actually strong enough to handle it if you clean the surface with alcohol first. It has a telescopic arm, so you can position it *away* from the infotainment screen.

• Another option if you want to avoid the dash entirely is a CD slot mount. Most people forget the Cruze even has a CD player lol. I used the Mountek nGroove Universal CD Slot Mount for a while. It's super sturdy and puts the phone in a great line of sight without blocking any airflow. It's like $20-25 and wont shake at all.

• If you're willing to spend a tiny bit more for something that'll literally last forever, look at the Steelie Dash Mount Kit by Nite Ize. It uses a tiny magnetic ball. It's small enough that you can find a flat-ish spot on the trim piece next to the screen. It's lowkey the cleanest looking setup, tho you do have to stick a magnet to your phone case.

Good luck, it's a struggle but one of these should definitely do the trick! 👍

Ok so, looking at this from a more technical DIY angle, most of these mounting failures happen because the Cruze dash uses low-surface-energy (LSE) plastics. Basically, standard adhesives cant get a proper molecular bond on that textured material, especially with the high thermal expansion we see in car cabins. If youre gonna go the self-service route and custom-mount something, here are a few critical things to watch out for: * **Shear Stress:** Those curved surfaces create awkward leverage. Even a light phone puts massive shear stress on a small mounting footprint when you hit a bump. Youre better off finding a mechanical attachment point rather than relying on tape.
* **SRS Deployment Zones:** Do not—and I mean DO NOT—mount anything on the A-pillar or the upper dash area where the side-curtain or passenger airbags deploy. Youre basically building a projectile if you do.
* **Trim Integrity:** The interior trim clips are notoriously brittle. If youre pulling panels to find a bolt-on point, use proper nylon pry tools or youll snap the retaining tabs instantly. Tbh, I usually skip the sticky stuff and look for a way to utilize the 7mm bolts already hidden under the trim for a truly solid, zero-shake setup.

Exactly what I was thinking
