Hey everyone! I’m looking to add a roof rack to my 2022 Chevy Traverse for our upcoming summer road trips. I’m a bit torn between going with the OEM Chevrolet crossbars or investing in an aftermarket setup like Thule or Yakima. We’re planning on hauling a large cargo box and maybe a couple of bikes, so weight capacity and durability are big priorities for me. I’m also really concerned about wind noise on the highway since we’ll be doing a lot of long-distance driving. Has anyone found a specific system that fits the Traverse flush rails perfectly without too much whistling? Also, how easy was the installation? I'd love to hear your recommendations!

Just saw this! If ur worried about wind noise, i actually looked into the technical specs for the '22 Traverse rails last year. I suggest: - Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Bar - The VGS strips basically kill any whistling on the highway.
- Rhino-Rack SX Series Legs - These grip the flush rails reallyyy tight for stability. Install is super straightforward, took me like 20 mins tops. Definately worth it for heavy boxes!! gl!

yo! i totally get the struggle. i actually went through this exact same thing with my 22 Traverse last summer when we did a cross-country trip. honestly, it really depends on how much you plan to haul. > I’m a bit torn between going with the OEM Chevrolet crossbars or investing in an aftermarket setup like Thule or Yakima. Heres the breakdown based on my experience: * **Option A: OEM.** The GM Genuine Parts 84254456 Roof Rack Cross Rail Package is usually the cheapest way to go. They look super clean cuz theyre made specifically for the car, but they have a lower weight limit (around 100-150 lbs total) and i found they whistled a bit once you hit 70mph.
* **Option B: Thule (My Pick).** I ended up with the Thule WingBar Evo 135 paired with the Thule Evo Flush Rail foot pack. it is LITERALLY silent. The aero design is insane. Plus, the T-track makes adding bike racks like the Thule ProRide XT Upright Bike Rack super easy without scratching the bars.
* **Option C: Yakima.** I've used the Yakima JetStream Crossbars 60 inch with the Yakima SkyLine Towers and Yakima Landing Pad 19 on a buddies car. Basically just as quiet as Thule but the tower system is slightly easier to pop off if you dont want the bars on all year. If you're doing a big cargo box AND bikes, you're gonna hit that OEM weight limit fast. I'd highkey suggest going with Thule. The install took me like 30 mins tops and fits the flush rails perfectly. it's a bit of an investment but worth it for the peace of mind on long hauls. good luck! 👍
