Hey everyone, I recently took delivery of my SF90 Stradale and while the performance is absolutely mind-blowing, I’m feeling a bit underwhelmed by the exhaust note. Compared to some of the older V8 Ferraris, the stock setup feels a bit muted, likely due to those restrictive GPFs and the turbo configuration. It’s just a little too 'polite' for a 1,000hp flagship!
I’ve been looking into a few options to wake it up. I’ve seen some incredible clips of the Novitec system with the techtronic module to prevent CEL issues, and I’m also curious about the Kline Innovation Inconel setup because of that specific high-pitched tone it's known for. My main goal is to achieve that classic Ferrari scream at high RPMs without losing the ability to drive quietly in hybrid mode when leaving the neighborhood.
Has anyone here actually pulled the trigger on an aftermarket system for their SF90? I’m particularly interested in whether a simple valve controller makes a big enough difference, or if I really need to go for a full cat-back or sport cat setup to get the desired result. Which brand do you think offers the best balance of sound quality and build reliability for this platform?
I feel u, I went through this exact same dilemma when I got my SF90 last year. Honestly, I was super worried about the CEL issues and messing with the hybrid integration because this car is basically a computer on wheels. I initially tried just a valve controller but it was still too polite... the GPFs are realy the bottleneck.
I ended up going with the Novitec Power Optimized Exhaust System with Flap Regulation combined with the Novitec Techtronic Module. It’s definitely the 'safer' route for reliability, tho I've heard the Kline Innovation Inconel Exhaust System has a slightly higher pitch if thats what ur after.
Lesson learned: If ur worried about the warranty or electronics, dont just go for a cheap setup. The techtronic module is a MUST-HAVE to keep the car happy. It’s expensive but worth the peace of mind.
TL;DR: Valve controller alone isn't enough. Get a full Inconel system with a dedicated CEL module for the best balance. cheers!
TL;DR: Prioritize heat management.
Honestly, with the SF90's extreme engine bay temps, I'd suggest the Tubi Style Inconel Exhaust System for Ferrari SF90 Stradale. High-grade Inconel handles the thermal load of those turbos way better than T304 steel. A valve controller is safe but won't cut it because the GPFs are the real bottleneck. Just ensure it has proper heat shielding to protect the hybrid electronics, right?
Seconding the recommendation above. The GPFs are 100% the problem here. Tbh, I had issues with just doing a valve controller early on and it was super disappointing—barely any louder and felt like a waste of cash.
WARNING: if ur gonna swap components, watch the heat management!! The SF90 engine bay gets insanely hot... I mean, those turbos are right there. I’ve seen guys go cheap on non-insulated pipes and literally melt nearby sensors or mess with the hybrid cooling lines. Not good.
Basically, it’s a trade-off:
1. Valve controller: Budget-friendly but barely changes the tone.
2. Sport cats: Best volume/flow increase but risky for CEL.
3. Full Inconel setups (like those mentioned): Sound amazing but honestly, the price tag is eye-watering.
I'd probably look at brands like IPE or Fabspeed for a middle ground, but seriously, make sure they have high-grade thermal shielding. Anyway, gl with the build!
Honestly, I feel your pain. Spending $600k+ on a flagship just to have it sound like a vacuum cleaner is... unfortunate. I've spent a lot of time looking at the telemetry and flow patterns on these, and basically, the stock setup is a strangled mess because of the GPFs.
In my experience, a simple valve controller like the Capristo CES-3 Programmable Valve Controller is a decent first step, but it definately wont give you that 'scream' you're looking for. It just makes the low-end drone more noticeable. If you want a real change without going the usual Novitec route, I'd suggest looking at the Akrapovic Slip-On Race Line Titanium Exhaust for Ferrari SF90 Stradale. It's engineering perfection, though honestly, it's still a bit refined.
If you want raw and aggressive, the Ryft Titanium Race Exhaust for Ferrari SF90 is probably the way to go. It's loud. Like, *seriously* loud. But keep in mind, these systems are pricey—you're looking at $18k-$25k once you add in labor. And watch out for heat management! The SF90 runs incredibly hot, and some systems lack the proper thermal shielding, which can cook the hybrid sensors.
Personally, I'd go with the Capristo Valved Exhaust System for SF90 Stradale paired with their heat-shielded cat-blankets. It’s a solid balance of reliability and tone, even if the install is a total nightmare because of how cramped the engine bay is. Good luck, hope you find that sound! 👍
Seconded!
