Hey everyone! I just picked up a new Ford Maverick and I am loving the truck so far, but that 4.5-foot bed feels a bit small for all my gear. I am planning on using it for some light hardware store runs and maybe some weekend camping trips, so I really want to maximize the space without cluttering it up.
I have seen a few things online, but I am curious what actually works best in the real world. I am specifically looking at:
Since the bed has those built-in 12V power points, I want to make sure I am getting the right setup from the start. What are the most useful bed accessories you guys have found for your Maverick?
Agree on the DIY slots, but definitely grab a Dee Zee Heavy Duty Bed Mat 3/8 inch Rubber. It'll stop gear from sliding and smashing your window during emergency stops, huge safety win.
I spent way too much time measuring my bed before I bought anything lol. Honestly tbh the 54 inch bed is tight if you do any lumber runs. I started with a cheap tarp but quickly realized the seals on the Bak Industries Revolver X4s Hard Rolling Cover are worth the premium price because it handles up to 400 lbs of weight and keeps things bone dry. For the flexbed slots, dont overthink it. I just cut some Severe Weather 2-in x 6-in x 8-ft pressure treated lumber to exactly 54.25 inches and it fits like a glove in the pre-molded slots. If you need more length, the Ford Accessories Bed Extender by Lund is great because it flips inward to act as a cargo holder when the tailgate is up. Basically it gives you an extra 2 feet of reach for those 8 foot planks. It makes a huge difference in the usability of such a short bed.
Honestly I am stuck with this same issue because the market is just so flooded right now. Are you hauling heavy items or just light gear, mostly for safety and weight reasons?
Just saw this thread and wanted to chime in. If you're on a budget, honestly skip the fancy dividers and just cut some 2x4s for those FlexBed slots. It costs like five bucks. For covers, compare the Tyger Auto T3 Soft Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover if you wanna save cash, versus the Rough Country Hard Tri-Fold Bed Cover for better security. Check out MaverickTruckClub for more DIY guides, those guys have basically everything figured out.
