I’ve been loving my Infiniti QX80, but I’m honestly getting a bit tired of having to plug my phone in every single time I hop in the driver's seat just to get Apple CarPlay running. It feels a little dated for such a premium SUV! I’m really looking to cut the cord and go wireless, but I’ve heard that some of the generic adapters can be pretty glitchy with the Infiniti InTouch system.
I’m specifically looking for something that has a fast boot-up time—ideally, it should connect by the time I’ve backed out of my driveway. I’m also concerned about audio lag during calls or when skipping tracks on Spotify, as that drives me crazy. My budget is flexible around $100-$150, but I’m willing to pay a bit more for something that is actually stable and doesn't overheat on long road trips. Has anyone here found a specific brand like Carlinkit or Ottocast that plays nice with the QX80’s infotainment hardware? I’d love to hear about your setup and if you’ve run into any connection drops or screen resolution issues!

For your situation, I've had the best luck with the Carlinkit 5.0 (2air) Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto Adapter in my Infiniti. Honestly, after three years of trying different dongles, this one finally feels stable with the InTouch system and boots up pretty fast—usually by the time I'm out of the driveway! There's a tiny bit of audio lag when skipping tracks, which is just a wireless thing, but it's totally manageable. I've also heard good things about the Ottocast U2-AIR Wireless CarPlay Adapter, so that's a decent option too if you want something super compact that doesn't overheat on long trips. Hope this helps!

For your situation, I'd suggest being a bit cautious with the cheaper dongles. I've seen them overheat and flake out on long drives in the QX80. If you want stability, I'd look at the Ottocast U2-AIR Pro Wireless CarPlay Adapter or the SuperiorTek 5.0 Wireless CarPlay Adapter. The Ottocast is snappier than their older models, but make sure to update the firmware immediately to avoid audio lag. Better safe than sorry! Hope this helps!
