I just got a 2023 SVR and honestly I am so frustrated trying to figure out how to make it better because everyone online uses words I dont understand. I was thinking maybe I need a louder exhaust but then I see stuff about ECU tunes and I have no idea where to even start.

My logic was just to find a shop and let them pick but I dont want to get ripped off since I know nothing about cars. I have like 5k to spend right now here in rainy Seattle. Sorry if this is a dumb question but what are the actual best performance things to buy first?

  • is an intake worth it?
  • do I need different tires?

Unfortunately, a lot of what you see online is just hype that ends up breaking things. I've had issues with custom tunes before and they were never as good as expected, mostly just caused stress about the warranty. Since you’re in Seattle, you really should skip the power mods for now. The stock summer tires are actually kinda dangerous in our weather. I’d personally go for Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 265/40ZR22 because they actually grip when it’s pouring. For the sound, the QuickSilver Active Exhaust System for Jaguar F-PACE SVR is popular, but honestly, it’s overpriced for what you get. Some of the cheaper ones rust out fast, which is a total bummer. Get the tires first, then see how you feel. Let me know if you need any shop recommendations around town.

I have been thinking about your post for a bit and honestly, coming from someone who blew a warranty on an older Jag, you should be very careful with the ECU stuff. If you flash the car, the dealership knows immediately. I learned that the hard way when a coolant line went and they denied the whole claim. Total nightmare. Since you are worried about getting ripped off, you might want to consider a piggyback module like RaceChip GTS Black Jaguar F-PACE SVR instead of a full tune. The pro is that you can usually unplug it before service and it doesnt actually rewrite the cars base code. The con is that it isnt as smooth as a real custom map. A real ECU flash is technically better for performance, but it is basically a neon sign for the dealer to void your coverage. As for the intake, I tried a full carbon kit once. While something like the Eventuri Carbon Fiber Intake Jaguar F-PACE SVR looks beautiful under the hood, it is basically a few thousand dollars just for some sucking noises. If you want a bit more throttle response without the risk, just stick to something like the K&N High-Flow Air Filter 33-5054. It is way cheaper and wont mess with your sensors in the damp Seattle air like some open-air systems do. I would suggest staying conservative for the first year. That SVR is already a beast and keeping it reliable is worth more than an extra 30 horsepower, especially when the roads are always slick anyway.
