Finally pulled the trigger on a track day at Road Atlanta next month with the F-PACE SVR and Im stressing a bit about what gear I actually need versus what is just fluff. It is a heavy beast so I know heat is gonna be an issue for the tires and brakes. I am torn between getting the Garmin Catalyst for the real-time coaching or just sticking to a cheaper OBDLink CX and spending the rest of my $600 budget on high temp brake fluid and a really solid Longacre tire gauge. Is the coaching on the Garmin worth the extra spend for a beginner or should I focus more on the hardware basics since the SVR is such a heavy suv and might cook the brakes?

Road Atlanta is super fast and that F-PACE is basically a 5,000lb brick with a rocket engine. You gotta prioritize the heat management over the fancy tech for your first time out. Honestly, skip the Garmin for now... the coaching is cool but it wont save you when your pedal goes to the floor at the end of the back straight. Be careful with those stock pads too. Focus on these instead:

Building on the earlier suggestion, spending on tech like the Garmin right away is kinda risky since stock SUV parts are often disappointing on track. I had issues with boiling fluid my first time out and its not fun. Focus on the basics first:

Hardware should be your priority since that SVR is a lot of weight to slow down. Safety and reliability matter way more than lap times when youre just starting out. Hard lessons come fast, like during a cross-country move a few years back. Hauling a massive trailer through the Rockies meant the heat soak was insane. It actually forced a two-day stay in this weird little town in Colorado just to let things cool down. There was this old cinema there that only played westerns from the 50s. Watched like four of them in one afternoon. The popcorn was surprisingly good tho, they used real butter. That place still pops into my head whenever I see a heavy vehicle on a steep grade. Anyway lol sorry kinda went off topic.
