I finally traded up to a 2024 SX Prestige and while I love the Nappa leather, I'm realizing it's a total magnet for stains compared to my old Pilot. I've usually been a WeatherTech guy for the floors but the Telluride's layout is a bit different and I'm worried about the gap between the second-row captain's chairs getting trashed by my golden retriever.

I've got about $500 set aside to get this sorted before our big ski trip to Vermont next month. Are there any specific seat covers that dont look tacky or interfere with the cooling fans? Also looking for something to protect the back of the seats when they're folded down for gear... any brands I should look at?

I've spent way too much time looking into the specs for the 2024 SX Prestige interior. You gotta be careful with the cooling fans in those Nappa seats; most generic covers will block the airflow and potentially stress the motor. For the floors, I would suggest looking at TuxMat Kia Telluride 7-Passenger Floor Mats. They provide much better coverage for that middle gap than the WeatherTech FloorLiner Kia Telluride which often leaves carpet exposed near the seat rails. For the back of the seats when folded, here are two options to consider:

  • Canvasback Kia Telluride Cargo Liner: This is basically the gold standard for gear. It uses 600 denier polyester and adheres with Velcro, so it wont shift when you slide heavy skis in.
  • Kia OEM Folding Cargo Tray: Its a bit cheaper and easier to find, but the plastic hinges tend to trap dog hair. Make sure to check the side trim coverage too, as that plastic scuffs easily with gear.

Regarding what #1 said about "I've spent way too much time looking into..."

  • I totally get that feeling. I spent weeks researching before I took my SX on its first long haul because those Nappa seats are delicate. One thing people miss with the ventilated seats is that even thin covers can trap dust in the tiny perforations, which basically acts like sandpaper on the leather over time. If youre really worried about the dog, honestly, skip the permanent seat covers. I went with a Vailge Dog Car Seat Cover with Side Flaps for the 2nd row when the pup is in there. It covers the gap between the chairs perfectly so they dont fall through or get hair in the seat tracks. It's basically a hammock that you can pull out in 30 seconds when you dont need it. This keeps the hair off the floor too. For the floors, if you want to save some of that $500 for the trip, Smartliner Custom Fit Floor Mats for Kia Telluride are a solid alternative. They arent as flashy as some luxury brands but they're rugged and dont slide around. For the seat backs when theyre folded down, I use the Powerty Cargo Liner for Kia Telluride because it handles the split folding better than some others I've tried. For the Nappa itself, I wouldnt cover it permanently. Instead, maybe look at a coating like Gtechniq L1 Leather Guard to give it some hydrophobic properties. It makes wiping up mud or spilled drinks way easier without messing with the cooling fans or the feel of the leather. Just make sure the seats are spotless before you apply it tho.
