What specific Level 2 chargers are actually reliable for the Range Rover PHEV without causing thermal throttling?

Ive been an EV driver for years but this car is acting weird with my old gear and I'm stressed about the battery. I'm in Phoenix so it gets hot as hell and I need a solution by Friday, budget is $700. Any ideas?

Saw this earlier but just getting a second to respond. Phoenix heat is no joke and definitely something to be careful about with thermal throttling. I would suggest looking at these two for safety:

  • Tesla Universal Wall Connector Level 2 Hardwired
  • Honestly, this thing is built like a tank. It has a built-in J1772 adapter and the thermal sensors are top-notch. It stays cool even when the garage is like an oven.
  • Emporia Level 2 EV Charger 48 Amp
  • You might want to consider this because it has solid heat dissipation and lets you monitor usage in the app. Its way under your $700 budget too. Make sure to have an electrician check your wiring tho. If the car is acting weird, it might not just be the charger itself. Better safe than sorry when you're dealing with that much power in the summer heat... dont want anything melting.

Is your current outlet melting? Be careful. The Grizzl-E Classic Level 2 EV Charger 40A is way tougher than the Wallbox Pulsar Plus 40A Level 2 EV Charger for Arizona heat. I'd suggest Grizzl-E.

Looks like everyone covered the heavy hitters already... the Tesla wall unit and ChargePoint are usually the gold standard for not throttling when the garage gets to like 120 degrees. Glad people mentioned the Grizzl-E too cause those things are built like bricks and basically indestructible. Phoenix heat is just a different beast altogether tho. I was out there last July visiting family and honestly spent more time worrying about my paint than my battery. Ended up spending three hours in this random car wash place just cause they had the best industrial fans in the waiting area. Best part was they had this old arcade machine in the corner, spent like twenty bucks in quarters playing Galaga while my Range Rover sat in the shade. Kinda miss those old school machines, they dont make them like that anymore... anyway lol sorry got totally sidetracked there.

In my experience, ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 50 Amp handles heat best.

  • Solid thermal management It wont throttle in Phoenix.
